Exhibition correction

Friday, April 30th, 2010

The wrong matchup was shown for Amethyst 1’s exhibition earlier today; it has since been fixed.

The correct matchup is
Nakajima Yōko (The Twelve Kingdoms) vs. Presea Combatir (Tales of Symphonia)

Apologies for the confusion; the incorrect matchup that was listed will take place at a later date.

Topaz over

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Congratulations to Aisaka Taiga for winning the 2010 Topaz Necklace!

We hope you’ve enjoyed this past month of matches; Amethyst Period is next! The preview for Round 1 will be available on Friday.

(Maybe I’ll get to finish developing that exhibition page… >_>)

Additions

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Space Opera signature images and slivers have been added to the “Promotional” page on this news blog. Thanks to melange for the design and concept along with ithekro, who has been the principal writer. More information is on the forums regarding this fun side project.

Long overdue but I have added a video submitted by Hachiko which previews Contestant statistics as they enter the Regular Season. We appreciate the research work, and it’s a great video for those who like to keep up with all the numbers and totals related to Saimoe.

More stuff in the works~

Topaz 1

Tuesday, April 13th, 2010

Results are out; Topaz is having a great start just like Aquamarine did. The space map will be a bit tardy today, but it should be on the website before the start of Topaz 2.

Beginning with Topaz, the period statistics and the cumulative statistics will have different values. The period statistics reset to count only the matches in Topaz Period; this is how we determine the winner of the Topaz Necklace. The cumulative statistics (which can be seen on the Statistics page at any time) will collect numbers from the entire Regular Season, deciding our Top 16 who will enter the Double Elimination tournment this fall.

Today we thank zmjhgvn once again for another donation to our project. :)

Topaz preview online

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Topaz 1 matches can now be previewed on the voting page. Our site has shifted to the Topaz skin; the posters at the bottom of the main page honor the Necklace’s previous holders, Sakurazaki Setsuna and Nagato Yuki. In three weeks we will have a new Topaz champion. Voting begins on Sunday.

Aquamarine information has been archived, and the Tiara posters have moved to the Statistics main page.

Thanks to LYJ who is our most recent donor. :)

Aquamarine over

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

Congratulations to the winner of the Aquamarine Necklace, Akiyama Mio!

Aqua7 had the greatest amount of voter participation yet; thanks to all for giving this Period an appropriate grand finale. With multiple Contestants at a 7-0 record, the tiebreaker came down to SDO (Strength of Defeated Opponents). It’s a good demonstration of how our statistics are calculated; the overall performance of one will depend on the success of others in addition to her own.

We’ll take a break this week until Topaz 1 on Sunday; the match preview will be available on Friday.

In addition, all of our Contestant biographies should be up to date with 2009 information. Thanks for your patience. (For any corrections or suggestions, please comment.)

Back to normal

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

As part of April 1 festivities worldwide, we temporarily changed our banners to reflect the International Saigar League, where voters would choose the most gar among anime males, as opposed to the familiar moe among anime girls. We’re not actually hosting such a tournament, though I’ve been surprised to see a positive response here and there about it. I don’t think a Saigar will be in our future, though.

The aquamarine borders were temporarily red, and a man-on-man match was placed at the top of the featured match previews. The colors have been reverted now, and the match moved to the bottom of the listings to avoid confusion in the future. If you saw our forums yesterday, I installed a temporary Naruto-based theme.

The visual elements are back to normal now, and we have still been keeping to our schedule. Aquamarine 6 results will be out later today, and the finale, Round 7, will start on Sunday.

All systems are go (and gar)

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Per the schedule, Aquamarine 6 will proceed as normal. We’re glad to have no problems through five Rounds so far.

In the meantime, we have new banners to display on the front page today.
