ISML "Boxing" Posters

Post by amdrag » Fri Jul 24, 2009 6:10 am

OK, here me out on this. I know that posting this before Ruby 9 will jinx Haruhi and/or Shana, and one of them will now lose before their showdown. However, I thought that by making it and not posting it, I was prematurely preparing for something that may not happen, thereby jinxing it. At least here, I'm acknowledging that I'm jinxing it, thereby possibly not jinxing it?

Meh, it's after midnight. I don't make sense anymore. Here's the pic.

Nah, you're not going to jinx it, the RM faction is going to game the system and prevent it from happening in the first place!

I won't be too surprised if Rin has a power eruption and upsets Haruhi in Ruby 3... :onion48:

Oh, very nice idea executed extremely well! :onion82:

Similar posters had been done for J-Saimoe in the past, I think. :D

It's wonderful that ISML is having some; these are perfect for blogs. It's great work, amdrag. I like it. :)

...which... I could live with. If she beats both, I'm good (as long as she then runs the table and gets her well-deserved necklace). If she beats neither, I'm good (as long as Haruhi doesn't lose to Konata or Rin). I just don't want to see Rin, Haruhi, and Shana ALL knock each other out.

Glad people are enjoying them. I changed the thread title cause I decided to make some more. Here's one for Ruby 6

I'm redoing Ruby 6 cause I missed Tomoyo/Suiseiseki. Don't ask me how I missed it, but I missed it. Hopefully up tonight.

...and here it is. I like this one better anyways.

Again with the not-jinxing-by-publicly-jinxing-it. This is a revision of Ruby 9, assuming that everyone in the top part wins out. Not quite as cool as the first one, but it covers most of the key matches.

I have a handful of problems with your Ruby 9 poster:

1. In the first row, Haruhi vs. Shana and Hinagiku vs. Tomoyo does not include surnames, yet the second row does. That kind of looks a little weird in my opinion, so maybe you can either do first names or full names for the whole poster?

2. I actually have 7 matches on my watchlist at the moment, so maybe you can widescreen it a bit? I'm looking at Kotomi/Rika and Holo/Rin to be important matches as well. Maybe you can move Fate/Kyou (top 8 vs. top 8) and Yuki/Kagami (ditto) to the top row, bring Hinagiku/Tomoyo (top 12 vs. top 8) down to the second, and also add the two matches that look to be important matches for the Ruby Necklace race, because it looks like Friday's matches are going to be immense headliners. That way, Haruhi vs. Shana should be centered.

3. Your posters do say "content not endorsed by ISML", but now that ISML is somewhat endorsing it, maybe it's a good idea to remove that disclaimer.

Replace with "a few critiques" in the prologue.

I like the idea of First names only or the way it is now (mixed).

The more, the better! :D

Keep it! It might motivate more Community-based content. Or, we can add an "ISML Community" stamp to it.

That's going to be tough, since I'm probably going to be out all day tomorrow (probably won't be home until after the results come in) and I'll pretty much need to be in bed right after that. A total redesign is going to be really, REALLY hard... but I could tweak what I got. How about this:

Top Row: Haruhi/Shana. Yeah, it's not the only match that matters for the necklace, but it's #1 vs. #2.

Row 2: Tomoyo/Hina', Yuki/Kagami, Fate/Kyou

Row 3: Suigin/Desu, Kotomi/Rika, Holo/Rin

By my count, if Hinagiku or Haruhi win, they're pretty much assured the necklace. If they both lose, then it's probably Shana... maybe Holo.

And for the "not endorsed" line... I replaced that line with a plug for the website on my Diamond 9 mock-up, and I thought I changed it on this one. It'll be gone on Ver. 4.
