It's been this long, why stop now? Every now and again a gem of an anime comes along and reminds me why I still stick with the industry all these years long...

Homura wrote: In terms of some other options, one of my best friends has once expressed his concern of not being able to be an anime fan anymore after marriage. I see that as a problem too. Not everyone will end up with marrying somebody who can understand his/her interests. When you are single, you basically can overcome most difficulties by your strong self. However, in marriage, when the other side persistently wants you to stop doing something, taking a strong attitude and choosing not to compromise will mostly damage the family as a whole. After some discussions with that friend, he surprisingly said if that were really to happen on him in the future, probably the only thing that could make him continue is I were still watching anime at the time. A.K.A, the power of strong friendship! so I put another option.
Oh that's nice of him, for your friend to actually considered quitting anime after marriage. (but in the end, he don't, right? Because that will be sad.)
One of my game friend couldn't give up on Rias and almost ruined his own marriage when his wife found out what kind of anime DxD is ^^;
Fortunately, he's such a cheeky b****** and found way to soften his wife's mood while still watches DxD in the back.
(but well... I guess that's the extend of his unfaithfulness. Nah, he's not a cheater or some sort. He loves her deeply, plus he knows he'd be a fool to cheat on such a beauty.)

Can never get my head on this relationship thing. Too complicated.
Personally, if it was an issue like that, I'd imply that the character was the anime equivalent to her =P
If that didn't work, say that anime and others like it are the reason I deal with her the way I do :lol:

Those reasons and that my other half is watching with me might be why she doesn't care that I watch some of the stuff I do, anime or not.

I think everyone has their "thing" that they do as a hobby, and anime is much less weird than others, trust me. Most of my friends won't judge because I know they do other similarly/more weird stuff. And besides, half of them (that I didn't meet because of anime) turn out to watch anime anyway. It's pretty mainstream now, probably because of Netflix.

The key of prediction is learning from the experiece in the past. I predict the fantasy by looking at previous result. When I see the statistics past 4 years of how many anime I watch, it shows that my tendency to watch anime decrease every year. My tendency to watch also decrease greatly in busy months. But, whether I will really stop watching in the future is never known. We tend to underestimate how much we will change in the future after all. Myself 7 years ago would never expect how I turn out now. I watch Dan Gilbert TED Talk about this.

So, my answer is I don't know

I don't think I'll ever cease to like anime/manga or whichever. My career/hobbies lies at the core of it. I make comics with a manga influence and I still will make more till the end of my life and my afterlife. If something happens to the anime/manga industry/culture, I'll set my intent to hopefully fix it, change it, or improve it. Even if there's a low chance of success, I'll find a way via trial and error. I actually dont really care if the general anime gets any better or worse, I just watch whichever interests me. I guess because I kind of view myself more as an artist rather then just an anime fan.

Maybe I'll enjoy anime, as long as have life balance between watching anime (and some of my other hobbies) and real life work. But, I am honestly lost interest in it, due to some complicated reasons.

Unsurprisingly, the me of 4 years ago is loud-spoken and short-sighted.

I'm still a pretty big anime fan, though I'm no longer trying to consume as much anime as humanly possible. Honestly back then I saw anime as one of the highest priorities in my life - and I'm glad it isn't anymore.
