[DONE] Seiyuu Tournament 2013 - [P2 R1-3]

Post by Chocola » Fri Aug 30, 2013 3:53 am

About this poll:
  • You can also post extra campaign materials on this thread.
  • The poll will last for exactly one day.
  • If there is a tie for last place, voting will be extended until that tie is broken.
  • How many votes a seiyuu receives will be used as seeding in later matches (big wins are worth more).
Here are a few things to keep in mind when voting:
  • Use these qualities of voice acting to make your choices:
    • The voice acting is believable.
    • The voice has the right tone, adaptable to the characters' individuality.
    • The seiyuu has a wide vocal range, flexible in different anime.
  • Don't automatically vote for the seiyuu who voices your favorite characters. Remember that a character's personality are a result of a combination of good writing, directing, voice acting, and more.
  • Don't automatically hate a seiyuu who voices an annoying character. If the character is meant to be hated or be a foil to another character, and you end up hating him/her, then didn't the seiyuu do the job well?
  • Similarly, external factors such as a character's fandom, a seiyuu's fandom, or the quality of an anime should not be considered.
  • Singing is not everything, although it does contribute to a seiyuu's talent.
  • Your vote should be yours.

Every time, there's always one that stands out while the others are kinda even. This round, it's Iguchi Yuka

Araragi Tsukihi @ Bakemonogatari
Takayama Maria @ Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
Reizei Mako @ Girls und Panzer
Kujou Tsukiyo @ Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai
Misawa Maho @ Ro-Kyu-Bu!
Index L. Prohibitorum @ Toaru Majutsu no Index

From a silent-type Mako to imouto-type Index and Maria to okanemochishoujo (rich girl) Maho and Tsukiyo, she's got a great range. I personally love the way she voices Index, as she finds a smart balance between cute and bratty, between the standard imouto and the standard heroine. Ah, we can't forget about Tsukihi, can we?

And this make it even harder for me to choose...
Can't decide just by number of vote...

By the way, with exception of Iguchi Yuka, we got Nanoha StrikerS casts here...
Tamura Yukari, Mizuki Nana, Nakahara Mai, Ono Daisuke...

In the end vote for Yukari and Mai. As for Nana, I like her voice for song better than her as seiyuu and I always follow ladies first rule. Sorry Ono Daisuke...
Please excuse my lousy English...

Evidently missed the second round, but this round first choice was easy for voicing Irukukwu, the second was harder to pick from the remaining.

damn it, missed the first two rounds even though one of my favorite seiyuu was involved in each of the polls.
I don't have one in this one, so the choice was harder.
In the end, I'll go with a single vote for Nakahara Mai. She really impressed me in her role of Watashi, and considering the list of her works, she has a wide range in her doubling as well as quite a good number of well done ones. Mai from Mai hime, Rena from Higurashi, Rena from .hack, Nagisa from clannad, Nora Arendt from S&W, yuzuha from utawarerumono, Teana from Nanoha... This is an impressive variety of characters as well as a good list especially with Watashi, rena (higurashi) or Mai.
She sings quite well too, I remember that song from amaenaideyo as well.
Especially, what decided me to choose her in the end is the fact that she completely adapt herself to the role. How many people were able to recognize the same seiyuu in Nagisa and Rena for example. Or in Watashi and Mai. Or in Yuzyuha and Rena (.hack). Everytime it's so different. and THAT is the mark of a skilled seiyuu ImO.

Was in the process of typing out my post and voting, too.

I meant extended for a little bit, not one whole day... Sorry. We were only down 12 hours after all. You should still type out your thoughts anyways. I forgot to do mine:

The first vote was obvious and it goes to Tamura Yukari. She has amazing range, which is easy to spot if you just look at her role as Furude Rika. She can act very childish when needed and very serious/dark at other times, such as when talking to Hanyuu. As for another comparison, take Nanoha and Mai, both done very well with different personalities. Iguchi Yuka also has some range, notably Index vs. Mero, but I just love her voicing Tsukihi and in general I love her voice.

Re: [VOTE] Seiyuu Tournament 2013 - [P2 R1-3]

Post by Kordosa » Sun Sep 01, 2013 1:17 am

Not that it matters now, but here's what I would have posted:
Yuka Iguchi (series watched: 16; memorable roles: 10)Show
Several of the characters I've seen voiced by Yuka have a childish type quality to them, even if the characters themselves are different. From the extremely childish Maria to the monotonous Mero to the lively Norie. But I have to say that her performance as Subaru was terrific, switching from boyish to girlish as required by the story and pulling off more extreme vocalizations when Subaru's embarrassed or angry (mostly due to Kinjirou). To a lesser extent, I thought her portrayal as Tewi in Maikaze's doujin Touhou anime brought out Tewi's cynicism and mischievousness rather well.
Nana Mizuki (series watched: 10; memorable roles: 8)Show
Nana Mizuki has a pretty good range. From the alternately sweet to deadly serious Saya to the tomboyish Touma to the soft-spoken Aria. All of these characters are very different and her vocal performances demonstrate that.
Mai Nakahara (series watched: 19; memorable roles: 12)Show
Mai has also voiced a variety of characters. Aside from ISML's Nagisa and Rena, she's also voiced the somewhat quiet Felli, the outgoing Miina, the somewhat shy Midori, and the proud Miu. Also, Reimu.
Daisuke Ono (series watched: 18; memorable roles: 12)Show
Daisuke has a somewhat distinctive voice but is able to modulate it as required. A few of his roles I thought were good at showing off his talent are Shizuo, Kazuma, and Battler as all of those roles required differing emotions at times. By the way, has anyone else noticed that several of his characters all have great hair?
Yukari Tamura (series watched: 19; memorable roles: 12)Show
For the most part, Yukari uses either a cutesy loli voice or a demure mature one. Rika is a special case where she switches between the two. And Mai, Ichigo, and Remon are all more monotone. And she uses an ojou-like affectation (if a somewhat hammy one) for Kyou.
Final DecisionShow
I always seem to have a tough time choosing, but given their diversity, I'll choose Yuka Iguchi and Nana Mizuki, despite not being among my favorites.
So yeah, if I had posted a little bit sooner, Yuka might not have been ousted from the tournament right off the bat...
