Only C.C.'s match vs Victorique and Kyou were lower (6905 and 6309). By percentage, she matched Yuki with a 0.01% difference.

Versus ISML 2010's performance, Azusa managed only 734 votes ahead of C.C., a 57.72% win percentage.
Vote totals in general are down right now. You can't really compare them with earlier matches.

0.01% less than Yuki but also 1.93% less than Kuroneko, 2.56% less than Haruhi and 2.95% less than Misaka. Azusa vs C.C, is only one match, but it's one she didn't do quite as well as the other Tier 1 characters that faced C.C.. I'd also say Yuki now is a fair bit stronger than the Yuki that faced C.C. back in Aquamarine.

Azusa vs C.C. 2010 happens right at the start of K-On season 2's airing and before Azusa started shooting up in strength. Azusa is definitely stronger than that now, but I never meant to imply she wasn't.

I want to say that I predicted this last period. Tenshi has her necklace for the year, so many of her voters just stoppoed visiting, until post season.

Anyway, I'm saddened by the fact that, out of the four matches I look at regularly, only Saber managed to pull out a win, and Hina-tan was the only one to get close to her opponent in terms of voting numbers.

Aside from a couple of close calls, and some curbstomps, most of the differences weren't all that great. Lower voter turnout = closer matches?

The Yui > Yuri, I approve, but the Charlotte > Yui makes me a little sad. =(

Yeah, and even lower voter turnout = upsets. Predictability and popularity work together in wonderous ways.

Vote dynamics fluctuates between pairings, day of vote as well as the presence of SDO voting tactics. Could burnout result in more abstains among fringe supporters who would have voted Azusa in what is a predictable outcome compared to others who had an early match with C.C. and benefited from fresh enthusiasm? A like-for-like achievement in comparison to other Tier 1 characters would not be a fair judgment. A performance range call would be a more realistic view in view of unknown variables. Tier 1 would normally hit around 60% - 65% range against C.C. this year. Kanade and Shana would be an exception where both have a good chance of hitting close to 70%.
Supporting:
  • Bakemonogatari: Oshino Shinobu ♦ Sengoku Nadeko ♦ Senjōgahara Hitagi
  • K-On!: Akiyama Mio ♦ Nakano Azusa ♦ Hirasawa Yui
  • Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai: Kashiwazaki Sena
  • Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?: Eucliwood Hellscythe
  • Haiyore! Nyaruko-san: Nyarlathotep

Although I feel Shana has been trying to pull away from the non-Tenshi Tier 1s, she's not significantly stronger than them yet. 70% on C.C. is a really high mark to meet. Kanade would have a fair chance at pulling it off because Kanade is just that ridiculously powerful but Shana should still be a lot weaker than Kanade and has no particular reason to massively overperform on C.C. like she might against Louise or Nagi. It would be a pretty good performance by Shana if she could get 66% or 67%.

Good: Haruna and Victorique winning
Bad: Haruhi and Lingyin losing
Extended comments:
  • Yeah, Mugi totally got crushed. I was expecting it, but still....
  • I'm glad Fate won, but given that it was against Iwasawa, I was hoping margin would have been a bit bigger.
  • I really would have laughed if Yui had beaten Charlotte. That would have been awesome.
  • I'm very happy that Yui-nyan won her match. :D
  • Holo loses first against Ayase, and now against Yami? ....it's always the ones I don't think will do well that end up doing well. I had thought that Yami's strength had dropped last year compared to her strength in 2009. So why is she currently 24th overall? And why is Holo dropping off the map? Of course, I only took stats in college because it was required, I have no intention of making my brain hurt by choice here. So someone else tell me why.
In fact, now that I look at the overall standings, there are several characters that otherwise would be doing okay that I'm now concerned for. From the bottom up: Rin, Fate, C.C. and Holo. Mafuyu's seemed to be a one-year-wonder (unless the additional upcoming Seitokai anime helps next year). And I think Mugi missed her chance in ISML last year because this year won't do anything for her, I'm afraid.

Rin, CC, Fate and Holo should be at least up there but they are not winning their matches they are supposed to win. It is understandable that they are losing to the contestants who are stronger than them (including the newcomers) but I can't take that their performances towards the opponents of their level are really subpar especially to those to the likes of Lingyin, Shiina, Laura and Sora.

So either 2 things could have had happened to them.
1. Either a lot of people gave up on them this year hence their poor performance or
2. The new voters don't know a lot of the veteran contestants much unlike the newcomers.

If I didn't keep up with watching the series the newcomers are in, I'd be in the opposite boat...

And I would think that anyone who decides to support ISML regularly would at least look up characters they don't know somewhere (I prefer MAL and TV Tropes, since unlike Wikipedia, they use spoiler tags) to at least get a general idea of who they are.

But to be fair, during my first year of participation, I didn't know of either MAL or TV Tropes, and I didn't have any compunction of looking up characters I didn't know. I wish I had, or else I wouldn't have anti-voted all the Clannad girls, lol. I did stop after I watched the series late during the regular season. Also to be fair, when I first stumbled upon ISML during that year, I literally only knew a handful of series and spent most of the time watching the ones I didn't know.
