Statistically, she wasn't that close to Fate. She had a chance, but it was still fairly small. And It's not so much Fate won, but I'de have bet my left arm Gin couldn't defeat Fate by 400. Afterall, she only had one loss, and it was to Haruhi - by less than 100. When Gin faced Haruhi, she lost by over 300, and it was during the sam period.
I don't use the statistics. I use the vote totals. And Gin-sama was actually quite close, even over.

Vote totals don't mean much, because there is a thing called 'strength of schedule' - And Fate had a higher SAO. Not all characters run like clockwork, anyways. Consistency is what Fate is good at, not amassing the most votes each round like Shana and Haruhi.

Yes, I know. But I don't need anything else. Vote totals, and knowing the fanbases actions are enough for me.

I concur with this assessment, as only the group as cunning as Rozen Federation could pull off these results. They are voting for their dolls, aim to upset some contenders in matches they could pull an upset, and not do anything about matches that seems to be out of reach.

I find it funny that this is the second round in a row our stats averages were off by 0.01%. Apparently, I mispredicted 6 matches though.

Well most results are back to the usual but with the boost for the dools, Mikuru and Kagami... It really seems like a Rozen Maiden faction planning to get more victories for then and probably the necklace for Suigintou... They already got Fate...

Bah, crap results.

At least Hayate won.

But this Rozen Maiden boost is quite unappealing. 4th highest vote counter for a doll I've never heard of, don't like the visual and don't like the villan-character. I'll never get it...

Funny you say that. You know about MGLN yet don't know about RM.
Obviously you'll never get it unless you actually get to know the series and the characters.
That's how it goes for every series.. well, most of the series.

Rozen Maiden faction, perhaps, is the strongest and the mightiest faction in history of Moe Tournament.
SpoilerShow
In Anime Saimoe Tournament (Japan) alone,
2005 Runner-up Souseiseki
2005 Semifinalist Shinku
2006 Champion Suiseiseki
2007 Semifinalist Shinku

Expand that to Best Moe / Super Moe Tournament (Korea), then you get
2006 Champion Suiseiseki
2007 Semifinalist Suiseiseki
2006-08 (Super) Champion Suigintou
2006-08 (Super) Runner-up Suiseiseki
Crazy.

*Edit: Finally Gin-sama beats Louise in a 1:1 match. A revenge accomplished.

The Following are the discreet groups I can pick out performance wise. The rankings used are from the performance ratings from the above link--NOT the ISML Rankings.

It is true. The Rozen Maidens have had at least one member at at least Semifinals rating in at least one Saimoe type contest each year since 2005. While they where not involved in Saimoe 2008 (nor will they be in Saimoe 2009), they did manage to gain a strong finish in Super Best Moe that year...to the surprise of many since most thought the winner was going to be a man or what some were calling "joke characters". Having a Rozen Maiden Final was probably the last things anyone thought would happen.

And Suigintou has been a strong contenter even in ISML. She was able to make it to the Top 16 by the end last year, and as noted before she defeated Fate in Saimoe 2007, and then lost to Louise before the Quarterfinals, also one of the reasons Louise was getting a lot of hate voting last year, even though she still beat Suigintou in ISML 2008..due to her show coming back just before their match. Thus the call for vengence being served in this round over Louise. (It also makes for interesting backstory for the Space Opera)

Suiseiseki....well...she's not been as powerful here before, but she has been very, very powerful in the past, and still holds the J. Saimoe record for most votes in a single round (verses Fate in 2006). She also has the rather well known "desu" meme behind her from time to time.

Shinku...well she's the star...but is generally left behind by her two sisters in moe contests...but she still has backing.

Better results than last time. :)
And still, I don't understand how the voting suddenly turned so batshit insane random.

...I hate Shana even more than I do now.

Amu doesn't deserve that... And Yuki is starting to make me angry too.

Nanoha lost to Mikuru... and I don't mind Gin beat Louise, at all. But still, seems too much. D:
