ISML Fantasy: Sapphire

by Chocola
Welcome to an exciting round of ISML Fantasy! For Sapphire, you are to predict the fate of 64 contestants for 9 matches. Don't worry, you don't have to predict the result every match. You only have to predict how many wins or losses each contestants will receive during the Sapphire Period.

Here are some rules:

1) You have until when the results of the first Sapphire match is released to finalize your predictions. You will not be able to edit your post after that time.
2) Your predictions will be a list, in alphabetical order, of the contestants and their record in [ wins - losses - tie ] format, with only the win field required.
3) Only 1 tie prediction is allowed per character for each period.
4) If a character's [ wins + losses + tie ] total is not exactly 9, then the loss will be assumed to be 9 - wins - ties.
5) You must predict records for all characters.
6) Total wins and losses for all characters do not have to be the same. Tie predictions do not have to be in couples.
7) You have the option of predicting up to 5 characters that will win the necklace. The more you predict, the less points you will gain/lose.
8) The amount of characters you predicted will count for or against you depending on if any of your picks win the necklace.
9) Everyone can discuss and collaborate, but no flaming is needed.
10) At the end of the period, I will reveal a generated rating for your total prediction based on the final results.

Rules Last Edited: May 26, 2009

Here is the spreadsheet (use either one) that has all of the contestants in alphabetical order and their opponents for the Sapphire Period:

Here is the link to an Excel 2007 file (.xlsx) which you can use to generate your results:

Here is the link to an Excel 2003 file (.xls) which you can use to generate your results:

Explanation of how to use Excel fileShow
How to Use:
-For each of the contestants in Sapphire Match 1-9, replace their names with 1 or 0, 1 if you think the contestant in row L wins or 0 if the contestant in row L loses.
-If you put down a 1, make sure you also put down a 0 somewhere else in the table. For example, if you put a 1 in cell M2 (you think Taiga will beat Tsukasa), then you have to put a 0 in cell M17.
-Because you have to change two cells for each match which are in the same row, it is advisable that you predict row by row, which can be easier.
-If you have any questions ask Juice on IRC.

General Tips:
-The values in the Record column is the amount of wins for that character.
-When you're done with either table, make sure that the value beneath the Record column is 288. If it's not, then you did something wrong.
-Each table has an SDO column, which calculates the SDO for each character. You can use them to make your necklace predictions.
-Try not to sort anything. If you must, wait until you are done predicting, then you can sort the Contestant, Record, and SDO columns only. Sorting by other columns might break the script.
-If you did something that gives a weird output (such as #VALUE! or #NAME!), try to undo until those scary things go away.

After you're done, you still have to get it in the format below. An easy way to do it is to hide all the columns between the Contestant and Record columns. After that, copy the two columns (they should be right next to each other) into Notepad. Now, all you need to do is put a colon after each right parenthesis, or use the replace function to find ")" and replace it with "):" without the quotes. If you think this script is more helpful than you doing it by hand, then have fun using it!
Here are examples of what your submission should look like. PLEASE submit your predictions in one of the below formats!

Mmm..
I should start working on Sapphire Fantasy.
But then I don't know if they will leave after Amethyst like Vietnam did last year with Topaz, or stay throughout the year.
If they DO leave, the Maidens should drop and drop and drop like Negima girls last year, thought not as much. Backlash scary.

Apparently Higurashi Rei episode 3 did not do any good for Higurashi girls last time, so I'll see what happens in Amethyst 7 and start working on Sapphire..

It really depends how greedy they are. Hate will start to kick in majorly, so yeah.

As long as the vote totals aren't all over the place, things should be normal.

Well if they stop after the end of amethyst than the dolls will suffer a lot of backash... but of they don't stop then if there isn't a big anti faction voting agaisnt anyone they think the RM faction is voting for or if there isn't another faction voting for another group then nothing can stop them.

Anyway won't participate on Sapphire Fantasy... let's wait to see if things will go back to "normal".

Pfft, that's no fun. You don't have to play to win, you know. Participate for the heck of it. :D

Anyways, the new rule is that if you are not predicting necklace winners, you have to say so.

Oh another problem is if I should predict thinking that the RM faction would still be there or not.... Oh well I may give it a try but this time only by giving characters a rank and changing a few by myself... is too tiring to do match by match predictions with these crazy results.

This was the quickest I've ever done Amethyst, because I won't feel ashamed if my predictions totally suck. On the contrary, I'll be glad, because it means the RM faction is no more.

If you didn't realised it until now: atm, the whole thing is no fun anyway. Everyone hates the current situation and I can understand it whole heartly.

@Fantasy

I think RM faction will continue and aim for overall victory, but theyre strenght will more and more vanishing cause with the time, the other Voters will go for an anti-RM frenzy. Will be fun to watch. :D

And even if they do it would be alright to try to stop them? Think like this... It's obvious they're tatical voting to, for example, win the necklaces... so we can predict that they will make all major contenders lose at least once but while we can pinpoint it to a small numbers of matches we usually can't know the exact ones they will go for... if we try to anti-vote them and get the wrong match then we will be the ones making the results crazy...

Welll now the hard choice... to assume or not that the dolls will keepe winning... plus whenever I should base the predictions on results of amethyst.. I mean many lost or won just to open way for the dolls... who really got stronger or weaker....

Yeah, the RM strength Isn't the problem, as I think they're beatable...Albeit, only by the strongest of characters, but still beatable. It's their 600 vote onslaught of tactical voting that makes this group so damn hard to deal with. Mid-tiers taking out top-tiers Isn't very hard to do when you can shift 600 votes over to the weaker character. They average about 25% of all votes in any given arena, and that's a whole lot of votes to have to deal with.

I should just sit this period out and see what becomes of it, but guess I'll predict the faction will stay and hope I'm wrong.
