KholdStare88 wrote:Lastly, math is universal. There's no need to translate any instructions. Right now most people 12+ (99% of our voters) can do these math problems mentally in less than 5 seconds, so this is our best option.
It took me several minutes to get an answer to my question, and I'm not even sure it was right.
Unless you tell the voter that the submission was not accepted, they won't try again, thus killing the possible valid votes and accepting the multivotes (computers can easily do math problems, while humans probably could have trouble with them).
It just seems that the ability to make a valid vote keeps getting harder, eventually turning people away because things are just taking too much time in this world where 'time is money'.

Don't spell it out quite like that. Multiplication and Division are equal. Addition and Subtraction are equal. Your linked article even says:
Wikipedia wrote:These mnemonics may be misleading when written this way, especially if the user is not aware that multiplication and division are of equal precedence, as are addition and subtraction. Using any of the above rules in the order "addition first, subtraction afterward" would also give the wrong answer to the problem 10 3 + 2. The correct answer is 9 (and not 5).
Instead:
Parentheses > Exponents/Roots > Multiplication/Division > Addition/Subtraction

I remember when an elementary school teacher tried to tell us that they weren't equal. I knew she was wrong, but it was still upsetting.
Anyways, the problems do seem simple enough. But people who may mistype a number may not realize that their vote wasn't accepted.

Is that asking for the derivative? or the integral?

Yes, I should have changed it.
Fixed now.

I'm studying that now and I think that symbol means the derivative.
Thanks for all the awesome sigs :>

My family used to eat math for breakfast. Addition and subtraction are not equal, subtraction is just adding a negative number, similar situation between multiplication and division, they are intrinsically linked, thus putting one above the other is wrong :p

Derivative of sin(x) is cos(x), derivative of cos(x) is sin(x)
The scalar '3' is brought out of the trig functions upon executing the derivative,
the constants are dropped
d/dx[7 * 3 * cos(3x) 5 * 3 * sin(3x)] where x = pi
Plug n Chug
= 21 cos (3 pi) 15 sin (3 pi)
= 21 * 0 15 * 1
= 15

I didn't get the opportunity to take any calculus courses until college, and even then, I did horrible in them, so I sort of envy you.
Trig was loads of fun, though.

Why is this a partial derivative anyways? There's only one variable that varies, so can't we just use a total derivative?
