For our 2016 favorites in our profiles, will we have all 128 contestants per division to choose from?

Current plan is to only top 64. If even that feels too much, we may slim down to top 32. I will leave the decision to profile writer team.

Doesn't feel too much to me at all, in fact, I want to choose from all the characters that passed nomination.

I'm not sure what the profile-writing team has to do with it. Maybe you misunderstood my question. I'm not asking about the character biographies, I'm asking about these sections in our user profiles:

Question: A character is eligible for both the main tournament and winter seasonal. She missed the cut for the main tournament, will she be considered for winter?

That can happen if the first seed end up being placed 3rd or last in their group.
Chibasa wrote:As I understand it, we will have a group stage to seed characters (32 groups of 4 girls & 32 groups of 4 boys?) and then Round of 128 or round of 64 (if they choose to eliminate half candidate during group stage).
Thank you, my understanding so far:
-128 characters selected from nominations (120 for girls since they have auto-nomination from seasonal)
-Group stage of 32 groups of 4 characters, round-robin within the group, bottom 2 eliminated.
-Top 64 gets their bios and enters elimination.
-Win-or-go-home until the champion is crowned.
Since characters who enter round of 64 will be the only ones who get their bios, is it ok to consider that group matches are "preliminary matches" while the elimination part is a real "main tournament"?
That's not a good news TBH

I have been meaning to ask this, but how have other people/forums reacted to this change? Has it been discussed on AnimeSuki, Tieba, Baidu, etc., and have their responses been meaningful or left with discussion?

Haven't been active in Animesuki lately, but still find time to forum read. No thread has been started for ISML on Animesuki yet. Either they're waiting for one to be opened up or are following ISML here.

Don't know about the others.

For any reason, please remove the "at least one of different gender" from nomination rules.

Disagree. The males won't pay attention to males division, then.
(Come now... what's so hard including 1 male character in your nomination? Every boy has a childhood hero, and I'm pretty sure most normal males will remember that even after they are 70-80 years old. Don't you have your own childhood hero, too?)

It can't be that difficult to come up with some filler male to nominate. You like a moe show that has a male protag? Nominate him. Your friend has a favorite male? Nominate him. You enjoyed some shitty shounen anime dub when you were a kid? Hell, nominate somebody from that. Or copy Grish's nominations, that is always an option Everyone still gets 17 slots for females (more than previous years), so I don't see why it's a big deal to some people.

Grish wrote:Everyone still gets 17 slots for females (more than previous years), so I don't see why it's a big deal to some people.
Actually it's easy to answer:
Lots of males (especially these waifufags who I'm sure made out an amount significant enough to ISML over the years) don't care male moe, so we rather fight sweat and blood trying to win that last slot for one extra waifu to nominate rather than spend it on some random dude which the thought of nominating him already gives chills to our bones and makes the hair on our back stand.

But it won't be fair for the female voters if we don't keep the male division alive (now that it's finally here,) so the two-gender nomination rule must stay.
After all, the reverse is also true. So you could say, in a way, I'm trying to protect the future of the hegemony of the female division.

If you ask me, if females are not interested in the tournament enough to keep it alive then it deserves to die.
Why must I, the most non interested in guys person, vote for them just to keep the male division alive.
Not to mention there will be shit ton of random shit male charas in that division, which where nominated out of whim, just to make the slots...
For whose sake are we doing this now?
That's true in reverse too, if people are only interested in males why should they nominate shitty girls in?

I don't think that is a good idea, it might lose the meaning why there is each division for each gender.
