Maybe you can play a game with yourself and try to identify all the faces. (Though there is an obvious hint. Plus the name will appear in a tooltip if you hover your mouse over the avatar for a second or two.)

Anyway, we hope this wall of moe gets you more excited about the upcoming preliminaries.

Using just the small pics, I was able to identify all of the charcters except three. The three I missed were Hanekawa Tsubasa, Kirishima Akari and Kirishima Kotone. I knew the names of the Kirishima siblings but not which were which. I only managed to get Oshino Shinobu because I already screwed up on Hanekawa Tsubasa. I knew about how the characters were ordered from the start but chose not to use that information. I only used the tool tips when I didn't know who a character was.

Yeah I can't recognize the Kirishima siblings without certain traits, but that's okay.I blame Cecaniah for everything.

I seems that I manage to memorize all of them except Ange and Maria.
Everyone looks great, especially Nadeko.

By the way, in the guys' pool, I spotted Hibari Kyouya whose first name is Kyouya and not Hibari. You list their names by first name, right?

Well done ! I really like all of them, except Bernkastel. I find her very scary :$ She looks better generally.

I like the bicolor names for Suiseiseki and Souseiseki, it's a great idea =D

Oh, and I managed to make the difference between Akari and Kotone. But I still don't know all the names, so I couldn't find the names of 7 or 8 contestants

EDIT : Oh and there is text on Yui's picture. That's a bit sad

I'm also not a particular fan of Bernkastel's picture. I probably wouldn't have recognized Ange and Maria if I hadn't seen their pictures beforehand. I'm not sure if there are any better pics for Ange and Maria, though.

Bernkastel's picture will be changed, but it will also be fanart similar to Ange and Maria.

The text on Yui's has been removed. Avatars for Azusa, Bernkastel, and Mikoto have been updated.

@Kaito: Oops. Well, that's last year anyway. But you're right.

I'm not sure if there are any better pics for Ange and Maria, though.

They've been very difficult to find. We're trying our best to provide an accurate representation of the character, so you can recall who they are (in case the name is not enough) and make a fair decision.

I only recognized Ange because she was next to Maria, she looks a bit... off in the picture, though I can't put my finger on why.

I'm not a particular fan of Rei's, but then again I'm insanely particular about Rei pictures.

Also I laughed when I saw the choice of picture for Yin - what I affectionately call "Yin's creepy smile".

The Avatars for 2010 look lovely.

I think Ange may look a little "too" moe in that picture. She's usually more tsun and frowns most of the time, and when she smiles, it's more of a faint/slight smile, not a wide smile. Still, I understand that there are image availability limitations. Maria seems okay though.

The Shinobu one threw me off too. I had to look multiple times to make sure it was her.

I think Bernkastel's smile looks forced now. (It's scary, not moe. )

We shall hide behind the lack of Umineko images no longer. (Anyone with time on their hands can sort through the albums for replacement pictures. )

The avatars are now final. We simply don't have time to make more minor changes where there are more important things that have to be done.

Yeah I can't recognize the Kirishima siblings without certain traits, but that's okay.I blame Cecaniah for everything.

I'm still welcoming any feedback from the community if you have it. While we may be busy now with prelims a few days away, there will be times throughout the season where we can address the smaller issues. We've changed avatars in the middle of the year before; I don't mind taking a little extra effort to help out.

@aly_angelflight: Thanks for the link. We'll take a look a little later to see if there's anything in there we haven't come across yet.
