Re: A New discussion
It got deleted. Because with some calculations we reached the conclusion that it'll end around 2025 at the current pace. The posts were getting messy, people wouldn't agree on the rules and that pretty much sums it... I only participated in the first part of the discussion regarding that issue and I wasn't here when the thread was deleted (sleeping) but maybe someone else can add more details.

Re: A New discussion
lol i know, I sort of miss it now.. my life feels so empty now that I'm not desperately trying to keep Shiina alive xD
If, say, we started a new game, with the girls at a lower number (400 or 500? or is 100 better?) and implemented a few things that would prevent it from getting so messy and so chaotic (like a minor time limit when >4 people are online or repercussions for major continuous screwing things up), would people still want to play? Or is the nature of the game too much for people to handle lol?
I don't think it was so much that people wouldn't agree on the rules as that the parameters of the game couldn't be changed to end before next year (by my math, it would have ended around late November if healing was taken out/stalemating was done away with) without completely screwing the previous ~6000 posts up and with the rules as they were, all that would happen is that stalemating and more hectic chaos would ensue. But I took a nap hours before it was deleted so maybe more happened while I was out. After a while it turned into a conversation anyways though lol

Re: A New discussion
I think it gets messy because there are too many contestants that one gets accidentally deleted or manipulated, no one would noticed.
we could just have a representative from each series competing...

That reminds me, Holo was eliminated on the first page when it was not as active, and it took a member not yet active in the game to mention the error many pages after the fact.
As far as representatives from each series is concerned, (2nd round Amethyst) 3 matchups in the main event will feature challengers from the same series. 1 of the same series matchups I will be keeping my eye on.

Re: A New discussion
Series Reps would fail. I mean, you'd lose Ayase straight off the bat since Kuroneko's more popular. Likewise, which K-On! girl would go through, Mio or Azusa? etcetc
It would work better in that sense if you did Hurt/Heal anime series rather than the girls themselves.
In any case, if it were a more civilized game and someone regulated it, then it would be less likely to happen. It gets messy because when there are a lot of people online, there's so much posting it's ridiculous as people try and get in before it moves too much.
I saw that too hinakat lol I don't know about your thoughts, but I'm thinking at least 2 of them will be far too clear-cut. The third might be a bit closer though

Re: A New discussion
(Same series) Haruhi: No contest
(Same Series) Oreimo: Looks one sided
(Same series) Index: No idea on this match. It could be either one sided or a close match. The winner might help a strong challenger in the necklace race though (As long as their opponent is not Kanade or Mikoto).

Re: A New discussion
or we could just have a weekly or bi-weekly, selected contestants based on the popularity tiers they are in.

Re: A New discussion
Did the game's creator take an active role in moderating it? If not, that could be a new global rule (game creator must take an active part in moderating) so that things are less likely to get out of hand.
From a server-maintenance perspective, huge threads are not nice to CPU and memory.
I would recommend any new games keep the pace slow.

Re: A New discussion
Even having a game creator moderating wouldn't help that much, as that game is a contest of speed... too much data for one too regulate, plus people can post at any time, as we have participants from different places of the world. I can't really see a way for it to work if a very big amount of people, but maybe you guys can figure it out.Alexander wrote:Game creator, pretty much vanished like a month ago.Crisu wrote:Did the game's creator take an active role in moderating it? Re: A New discussion
Lol Alex, you could just... not play?
It'd be better to not play that feel you have to.
Minty disappeared, but I'd be more than happy to regulate/moderate it if we resurrect it. I tend to be online during slightly quieter times anyways, so if I just correct the mistakes if there are any and post it up along with my changes, there's usually a good few hours before anything happens.
As for superunature's point, if we split the list of 50 up into 5 groups of 10
ie:
That would make it easier to keep track of? Tiers could work, but they'd be really biased and not worth doing, esp since the tiers have changed a lot since seeding and there are a few wildcards. Besides, if we start at a lower number, girls will drop off quickly enough, 50 isn't that much if you don't have them at 1000 lol
@chaosprophet, that's why I was thinking of implementing a minor time limit if more than 4 people are online. Something like 'if more than 4 people post within 20 minutes, a minimum of 20 minutes must pass between posts from any one person. For each additional person over 5, this minimum will be raised by 5 minutes or the same number of posts as there are people participating, whichever comes first.'
ie.That gives at least 5 mins per person (can change it if it's too long/short), so it shouldn't get too messy? Or is it too complicated? I was (attempting) to regulate it about 10-20 pages before the end of the last one, and it's not too too hard to see what changes have been made, just one window on either side of the screen and scroll. Most of the numbers are identical anyways, and even when it's moving, you eventually catch up.

Ex: Person 1 posts: 1:00, Person 2: 1:05, Person 3: 1:10, Person 4 1:13, Person 5: 1:15. Person 1 must wait until 1:20 to post again, Person 2 until 1:25 etc. If a Person 6 joins in, then Person 1 must wait 25 minutes (so if Person 6 posted after P5 above, P1 must wait until 1:25) or until all 6 people have posted once, whichever comes first.
