Mahjong! (+Official Tenhou room)

Post by Basaka » Wed Apr 08, 2009 5:02 am

ISML OFFICIAL ROOM: http://tenhou.net/0/?L1537" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Yeah, thought since we are all into Saki atm...

Who plays and what rules?

I can play Taiwan/HK rules mostly and know a bit on the scoring.

Jap mahjong scoring is totally @_@ to me. TT_TT
Edit: Think I learnt it now.

My mahjong set should be here soon.

I've watching it being played by old jewish ladies but I don't know the rules, nor was I really paying attention to the game (I was trying to see if they were confortable with the room, tables and chairs).

I suppose I'll have to learn Mahjong sometime. LazyCanuck and some people from my network were thinking about it.

With that and other Google searches for 'Mahjong online' it's possible. :P

(But I wouldn't have the time to moderate it. Am just presenting the idea to someone who could.)

Man, I love Saki...

I can play under Japanese rules, but I have to more or less rely on automated processes and/or a chart for scoring, and on top of that I still have trouble remembering all of the yaku on command.

I don't have a lot of useful experience with other popular rulesets. I've never played the Taiwanese (sixteen-tile) variant, for example, despite having been introduced to mahjong by Taiwanese friends. We had to resort to Yahoo to play together, and I think they use a special scoring system over there.

And if somebody pointed out the fact you have no wings...
...wouldn't mean a thing.

Sadly, I have hardly any experience in mahjong, and any past encounters with it is usually in Hong Kong rules.

However, I feel really compelled to learn/understand mahjong since it seems so interesting. I already tried reading all of Underwater's notes during Saki 01, and studied Quarkboy's post on the AS thread a bit.

Well, Taiwan rules is like Hong Kong with 3 extra tiles. Can't be that hard eh?

So, who's in for a ISML Mahjong game?

Decide on a client and stuff, then we should be good as long as 4 of us are online XD

Um... Before we decide on playing we need a client, thaeres that mahjon'd.com, tenhou and Yahoo games I think?

EDIT: Tenhou seems to be easy enough to use?

http://doujinsign.gensokyo.org/2008/02/ ... se-tenhou/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Also, I am thinking of private lobby 1537 cuz 1537 = ISML if you turn the numbers round a little. XD
