TCG/CCG

Post by blaZofgold » Mon Mar 10, 2014 6:06 am

This thread will be for general discussion of TCG/CCG out there, both offline (Yu-gi-oh, Vanguard) and online (Hearthstone, Tyrant).

We recognize the following TCG/CCG to be discussed. Try to keep the discussion mainstream.

Is this really necessary...?

I swear, we already had a thread like this and an MtG thread, but my archive digging couldn't find me either....

I haven't been playing much Pokemon TCG lately. Is Gourgeist seeing play? The potential on that is amazing.

MTG related: Minotaurs are stronger than people predicted. Good thing I consistently drafted them so I had my suspicions :D

Hitsuyou desu!

Gourgeist is a good rogue deck, gets insta-countered by Espeon DEX though. Not that anyone actually techs that card, but who knows seriously.

my favourite kind of card in Weiss Schwarz are Support-supports, although power is not everything in Weiss.

I need help making a LoveLive! English WS Budget Deck >.>
Obviously Yellow main, still trying to decide what secondary color...
And what main line to run

TD has <Wonderful Rush>, which seems to be a good balance of everything
<Our LIVE is LIFE with You> is the most expensive Yellow series, definitely not running that
<Summer Colors> has...all the same abilities? Play, pay 1 stock, get another unit. Is that worth it?
<Tight Love> is the maid series...all with on-play boost. Seems gimmicky.
<New Start> and vanilla series are...commons, so they kinda suck.

Actually, looking at my grade 3 choices, it seems like I have to run <Wonderful Rush> after all, it's the only Yellow series that has a Grade 3. I'm tempted to splash Red because Red is awesome, but the Blue Grade 3 has an ability to become a pseudo-grade 2...which sounds sick. Aaaaah....what to do....

I assume you are getting it in english? (in other words, no cards from the new set for the time being)
Btw, vanillas are going to be your best friend in a budget or fan deck

Yes, English. I'll probably buy 2x the Trial Deck to get a variety of cards as a base and buy the rest as singles.

I want to make it both competitive but also budget...I'm a big fan of balancing decks like that. For example, I run Spike Brothers in Vanguard and Flareon in Pokemon.

Getting 2 TDs as a base is a good start.
The two cards I really like from is the level 3 Honoka (this) and the 1/0 Umi (this)

Wonderful Rush and it's corresponding climax combo is decent and usually makes sure you are able to take down their level 3. It synergyizes well with the level 3 Nico in Love Live. Though I myself am a bigger fan of the climax combo involving the Level 3 u's which pumps 3K to all your characters for that turn.

The 1/0 [Summer Time] cards are well worth the cost as it allows you to search your deck for the pieces you are lacking.
Note that you may only run 4 [Summer Time] cards as each character has the same name and card ID. This also applies to [Tight Love] and [New Start].

Other inherent abilities that are good to run are Brainstorm/Concentrate, Encore, and on reversal abilities

Your best bet for a semi competitive, yet budget deck is probably a Kotori-cenntric deck but electing to miss out on the 1/0 Eri (1480yen) and 1/0 Umi (980yen) really throws lovelive's early game advantage out the window. I suggest at least buying 1 booster box to try and get some of those cards in your deck along with most of your other core cards before finishing the deck with singles purchases

I can usually get singles cheaply, I expect the Rares to cost no more than $2 a pop. At the shop I go to, Commons are $0.25, Uncommons are $0.50-75, Rares are $1-2, and RR+ are usually nearer $10. Meta cards are priced a bit differently, it's not unusual to see a meta Uncommon hit $3. Climax rare seems to hover at around $2.

I was thinking of using the Honoka CHANGE system to get Stage 3's out early, since it can guarantee the Wonderful Rush Honoka as well as the Level 3 u's (which is uncommon, therefore <$1).

The 1/0 Eri is prettty OP, don't think I could possibly afford 4. 1/0 Umi on the other hand should be affordable...we'll see once the singles hit my shop.

In the meantime, I'll make a decklist and have you guys help me edit. Stay away from RR for now, and I'll check what the other prices will be.

the Honoka changer only changes into the Lvl 3 u's and this Honoka card, and not any of the other ones.

Here's a basic idea of what I'd like to run:

4 0/0 Anybody (preferably Yellow)
4 "Oh,Love&Peace!" Myu's
4 Maki, Good at Singing
4 Maki, Prideful

4 "Wonderful Rush" Umi Sonoda
4 “Secret Talk” Maki
4 “Our LIVE is LIFE with You” Umi Sonoda

2 Maki Nishikino
4 Maki, Confident
4 Rin, Gathering Material

2 "Wonderful Rush" Honoka Kousaka
2 Maki, First Year Student at Otonokizaka Academy

4 Girl in the Music Room
4 Wonderful Rush

I have no idea what the ratios are supposed to be. The idea of this deck is to pump cards up for tons of Soul Damage while maintaining survivability. Level 0 is spent dealing damage and rushing to Level 1. Level 1 is used to CHANGE as many backrow Maki's as possible for fantasy setup while using Umi to deal great damage. Level 2 is the main deal of this deck, utilizing CONCENTRATE to get Climax Cards into the discard to call Level 3 Maki early for advantage. Smart use of Maki, Confident with its Climax Card can also protect frontrow from retaliation for a turn.

This is assuming the cards are cheap - otherwise, I'm just going to mash 2 TDs together and hope for the best XD

level ratios are fine and most of these things can be tweaked after play testing to suit your own style of play (that's probably the thing about Weiss is that you can play style/build you want and it's usually competitive to a degree as oppose to YOU MUST NETDECK TO WIN!!!), although the number of level 3s are def. on the low side of the scale.

While Wonderful Rush Umi is a great card, it should not be your sole attacker at level 1. Remember that in order to use Umi's ability, you must pay 1 stock along with rest 2 characters to gain her effect, something that does not synergize well with the Umi brainstorm or "Nishikino Maki"'s second ability.

Since your desired focus is get Maki, First Year Student at Otonokizaka Academy out ASAP at level 2, you must keep check of how much stock, climax and cards left in the deck there are left in the deck at all times. Something which, once again is at the opposite spectrum of Wonderful Rush Umi being your primary level 1 attacker (you can still run her, though you are better off having another level 1 (preferably a 0cost) attacker to depend on as well)

Btw, This Umi is excellent for your build as you have many mechanics to rest the backrow, making this card one of the most cost effective level 2 you can have with sustain on your opponent's turn.

Ah, I see. That makes sense. I've never played a TCG that had to manage that many resources before, so this is slowly making sense to me. I literally did not notice just how much Stock my cards require, dang that's a LOT. Definitely taking WR Umi out.

Also, that Umi is amazing, didn't realize it got +2500 after your turn ended.

Post changes deck:

4 0/0 Anybody (preferably Yellow)
4 "Oh,Love&Peace!" Myu's
4 Maki, Good at Singing
4 Maki, Prideful

4 "Wonderful Rush" Eri Ayase/Other Eri that's a rare
4 “Secret Talk” Maki
4 “Our LIVE is LIFE with You” Umi Sonoda/"Wonderful Rush" Umi Sonoda

2 Maki Nishikino
3 Maki, Confident
3 Umi Sonoda

2 "Wonderful Rush" Honoka Kousaka
4 Maki, First Year Student at Otonokizaka Academy

4 Girl in the Music Room
4 Wonderful Rush

With Maki, Prideful, I think I might actually be able to forgo Our LIVE is LIFE with YOU Umi since they do the same thing, and Maki costs less (just in case Umi is actually like what, $5 each).

The memory of Duel King. This is a collection of cards Mutou Yugi used. A variety of paticular cards will be seen.

Exodia parts.

Why this card is listed? Yuugi has never used this card.

The God Osiris.

The history of Yu-Gi-Oh OCG. It's a shame this records only up to 2004...

Speaking of online TCG/CCG, I'm thinking of adding Kantai Collection on here. I'll need a show of hands to see whether or not we in general will let it in to be discussed (as in who plays it).

Are there any other games like Kancolle available for Western audiences? I'm itching to play something like that, honestly.

I honestly don't think we need to restrict what kind of games should be discussed in here as the community itself is not big, so it will be pretty easy for us to keep track of conversations or switch gears to a different game.

People should be free to inquire whether or not anyone else plays a unlisted card game (ie: Victory Spark) and if people respond, cool. If not, oh well :(
