I read really really fast, I dunno.

It was quite good and pretty interesting to watch given the my only prior experience with VNs were the Keyani animes, ef, higurashi etc. Ever 17 is quite different from those.

Hm...

The arcs were really inconsistent in terms of quality. Tsugumi arc was AMAZING, while You + Sara arcs were quite lackluster.

And the ending, while nuts, didn't actually make sense. Replaying the game to unlock all endings (I got nothing but good endings without a guide :D) makes you run into stuff that seems to contradict the ending. But oh well.

When you win, it feels soo good though :D

I have a collection of amusing screenshots from the game to make a screensaver lol.

Actually there are a lot of things that are hard to make sense because the story is too complicated.

If you have the time and the interest I would suggest that you read some of the info on this link: Lemu - Ever 17. It has a take in many parts of the story that can help you have a better understanding of the story.

Yeah, I read that after I finished.
epic spoilersShow
One of my biggest problems was actually the events before Lemu sinks. In both 2017 and 2034 the EXACT events happen, complete with Tsugumi in Myunmyun suit etc. Wouldn't 2034 Tsugumi realize what was going on? I mean, what are the odds she'd grab a random kid and stuff him into a myunmyun suit twice?

Especially if he was her own son the second time?

Well I remember that she already suspect of what was happening (I mean that something strange was happening)... you can even see that on 2034 she distance herself more of everyone than 2034 and didn't trust them. She only went with it because of her children.

but this was before Lemu was even sinking. This was May 1.

My interpretation was that she didn't suspect something fishy until she was trapped

Well no one gave Tsugumi the Myunmyun suit. It was her choice to get one. And why there would be one... I believe it's some kind of mascot to Lemu so it shouldn't be surprising if they still used those suits. And well both random kids that she stuffed the suit into were very different and again she decided to do it so I don't think that would be suspicious to her.

I do agree with you that some of the 2017 and 2034 events are too similar but one of the explanations is the influence the "4th dimension being" have in what happens.

So, I think you guys need to try out Katawa Shoujo. If you haven't heard of it, it was made by a team of Anons from 4chan.

From http://katawa-shoujo.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;:
Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right. There are five main paths corresponding to the 5 main female characters, each path following the storyline pertaining to that character.
The main characters are: Hisao, your character; Emi, a sporty girl with prosthetic legs; Hanako, a shy burn victim; Lilly, an elegant blind girl; Rin, an aloof girl without arms; Shizune, the deaf and mute council president; and Misha, Shizune's energetic interpreter.

Yeah, there's just a demo, but it's pretty awesome. The whole game probably won't be done for a while.

Katawa Shoujo is definitely impressive for an OEL visual novel. Rather, it'll probably serve as an important milestone in the whole history of OEL products. The art is very good; better than most of its kind. Judging from the premise, the story also has some good potential with exploring character depth. Best of all, the staff members themselves all seem capable and very serious about this, which I think is the most important asset in developing anything worthwhile in the end.

It's a big historic moment kind of thing, and as a VN fan I'm also looking forward to trying it out. Though hopefully by then, I'd have convinced myself that I'm fine as long as the Skip H-scenes option is on....

How is the game? Haven't played anything by key besides Planetarian and Little Busters.

I'm playing Umineko right know. The story is great but the art is quite poor.

Looks like various eroge companies are starting to ban foreign access to their websites. I wonder if this'll end in the complete standstill of the already-fragile-and-almost-non-existent English visual novel market?

It's a "sound novel" for a reason. :P

Lol that means it has no interaction and nothing related to art (it doesn't even has voices other than some evil laughs... but the bgm is great).
