No interesting background here. Have a MAL account, and found this place through the group there, and liked to read the various matchups. Been reading for quite a while, but only just now made an account. Nice to meet all of you.

Introducing myself to the forum

Post by RXAlbatross » Sun Oct 18, 2009 7:13 am

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums, so I guessed that I should introduce myself, even if I am just a lurker.
I followed Ayu's ISML career since the last year and I'm really sad that all of the Kanon characters will finally have to retire from Saimoe once and for all. :( It was bound to happen, but given that Ayu was the very girl that got me kind of into anime, I can't help but have feelings for her :(

About me, I am mainly a racing simulation fan(atic), especially of GTR2. I 'skinned' a few cars with an anime-theme to it, given that there are no cars in GTR2. I had planned a few months back, in the summer to create ISML-themed paintjobs for all of the 2009 season contestants, but I figured that creating 50 skins is suicide even for just one car. I even planned out an AI tournament for the cars!

But I rejected that idea because it would be too time consuming to create so many skins for just one cartype (ie. all Nissan 350Zs), and because I like to have a variety of models to go along with the variety of personalities amongst the ISML contenders.

Instead, I decided to create a somewhat ISML-themed GTR2 carpack with only 32 characters in the pack instead of all 50.
I formatted the series in this way:
- Single driver teams are generally high-ranked or 'popular' ISML contestants (Shana, Chii, etc...)
- Teams are in single (Shana, Chii), double (most teams), or quadriple driver groups (Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, CLANNAD, and Rozen Maiden teams)
- Four driver teams from the same anime share the same cartype (CLANNAD girls use the Nissan 350Z for instance)
- Races are 45 minutes long and weather is subject to change!
- Seven-round championship

I even have plans of writing reports of each eace, as well as backstories as to why girls like Ayu Tsukimiya are taking up sportscar racing after retiring from ISML... maybe if the interest is there.

Err, welcome I guess? Interesting stuff bout ISML sportcars, although I'd imagine it'll look bizarre if it were to come to light. Anyways, welcome again, and I hope you have a nice stay at Hotel ISML.(whee)

RXAlbatross I moved your post to this thread because this is where introductions are supposed to be.
About your ISML-themed GTR2 pack project, if you want people to discuss about it, please create a thread in the Artwork and Fan Creation subforums for it.

Hey, I'm Elekari from LuckyStarShrine. I'm going to be reporting the results for the 2010 Tournament, since the guy that did it last year deleted the thread because Shana didn't win (He got banned due to some other things he did, way to be butthurt)

I've been following this since about halfway through the '08 tournament and I'm looking forward to the 2010 tournament!

Also, might as well list my top 5 anime while I'm here

1- Spice & Wolf
2- Seitokai no Ichizon
3- Bakemonogatari
4- K-On!
5- The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

I'm also a huge fan of the band 'Queen' so I might be mentioning them a lot around here.

Oh, dear, I have been lazy. I forgot to write here.

I'm maglor, also known as wontaek in AS, and I alternate between the 2 in IRC. In MAL, I'm maglor1. I am probably 3rd oldest among people you see around ISML, and perhaps the only one who have started watching anime, knowing that it was made in Japan, from 1970s. My hard luck gave me lots of skills without stability, thus I'm back in graduate school in Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in USA. I have been to Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana, was once an test prep instructor in Atlanta, Georgia, my undergraduate was in Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea, and I was also in University of Missouri, Columbia.

My chief duty here is that of Korean-English translation, and I have the same duty in the Best Moe Tournament staff as well, and since I'm one of the 2 people in both ISML and Best Moe, I often act as a liaison between the two staff, trying to bring about some fruitful cooperation between the two.

Being old, I have various interests starting from World History, Classical Music ( I have some academic training in Choral Music conducting and has been recognized as Gregorian Chant specialist ), Physics, Literature, Traditional Table top Role Playing Games, manwha/manga, and of course anime.

Finally, I think I'm cursed to always cheer for girls that people don't even know of, like the following girls,

I would have made an introduction but I didn't see this page the first time I signed up.

Can't say I'm tech savy so I was just a cheerleader for J-Saimoe this year. Good thing I didn't have to be for ISML. I'm staying here and on Animesuki for now.

I feel like I don't have much to talk about (closet anime fan) but I've shown interest in this hobby for 7 years now. For a thirty-something, I may be too old but I started late (after college). I stick with mostly DVD's and Local conventions rather than being a full blown fan.

I've managed to keep my addiction to any particular character in check...... that was until I started reading the Hayate no Gotoku manga and came across Hinagiku. Since she was still in ISML this year I decided to show my support. Those who supported other characters, try not to hold it against me for coming in at the last minute. Later. Hinakatbklyn

Hi everyone! I'm bluemage from MAL, Anime-Source.com or arche4ever on most of my other online accounts.

Found out about ISML in the early part of 2008, around the Topaz period I think, and have been following this contest ever since. I was a frequent lurker of the ISML Forums for almost the entirety of ISML 2009, but have decided to join in this year on some of the discussions because simply reading posts is not as much fun. :D

Still pretty new to the world of Anime (about two and a half years), but already I can't seem to live without it. I like a wide variety of Anime series ranging from horror/psychological to the most shoujo thing out there. I really adore Shana but you guys can probably already tell from my avatar and the #1 girl thing on the side lol. Other top moe characters I like include Rika, Kyou, Rin, and Mai.

Here's to ISML 2010 and its subsequent years to be huge successes!

Hey there, I'm new here, so yay nice thread for me.

I found myself here while a boring night surfing in MAL groups and it looked like a lot of fun -> registered
My MAL account is also Rathma. I'm not that knowledged about the great variety of anime and still lack some "legends" to watch.
I regret not knowing this site earlier, at least one week for fantasy contest xD

I hope to take part on some good conversations here and have a lot of fun with you guys.

I'm using the same username for MAL, but i bet nobody here know me though since i'm not that active...

I've been following the tournament since the nomination period 2008 and following the forum since the first bulletin board. I used to prefer on observing the discussion compare to join it, but i think i should join this year for fun.

Hiya, I'm HaloCapella. You may have seen me in various sites such as MangaFox, Crunchyroll and DeviantArt. Also, I just started voting this year of 2010 with my fellow MangaFox mates so I hope we can get along well. I've joined this forum because I've been sharing votes with someone else with the same IP so I'm trying to go around it. :3 That's all for now, see you around. ^^

Greetings, everyone. I am a participant of ISML since the beginning of DE in 2009, and is the "someone else" HaloCapella has mentioned.
I actually participated in J-Saimoe last year, but found it too much of a hassle to get a vote in. Which led me here, and my impression of ISML is very favorable.

Heyyy.

Number 1 girl in ISML is Fate, been voting here for over 2 years now. I was introduced to it by Demi/Killuan (like nearly everyone in this thread, lol) shortly after I'd joined MAL. Why am I joining the forums section after all this time? I have no clue.

Uhm, that's about it.
