Welcome to the 1st International Chess Championship!

Do you love chess? Do you like competition? Do you want glory, fame, and secret rewards? Or do you just want to have some fun? If any of those apply to you, please join!

PREREQUISITES FOR JOINING:
none Q: Wait, but don't I have to know how to play chess?
A: Not really. There will be a place for you even if you have no idea what chess are about !

Q: That's it?
A: Yes. We will have three different events: One for player that know how to play, one for newcomers, and the main event will be an exciting duo tournament, each team formed with one strong player and one newcomer player.

Q: But I don't just want to sit there and do nothing. How can I learn to play?
A: There are great sites out there that teach you the basics. Probably. Use the internet and become wiser every second !

Q: How do we sign up?
A: Please do the following if you are interested in signing up.

1. Answer this thread stating your level at chess between following possibilities:

- Clueless: I know nothing about chess
- NPC: I know different pieces and how they move
- Initiate: I played few games, but that's it.
- Confirmed: I know basic strategies and played many times.
- Pro: I often play to chess and try competitive matches to progress. (You don't need a high elo)

Q: Is there a deadline for registration?
A: Yes ! Entries will close on Monday, November 23th. Try to allow some time in your schedule for games.

GROUPS Pro Rules:

Face each opponent twice, once as white, once as black.
Games are played in (5+2)
At the end of everyone 8 games, contestant with least points is eliminated, others are seeded for semifinals.
Wins are worth 5 points. Draw are worth 2 points. Loss are worth no points.
In case of tie between two contestants, past head-to-head results are considered first, then, if still a tie, a tie-breaker game will be played.
(Except tie between 2nd and 3rd, since it does not affect anything)
In case of tie between more contestants, tie-breakers will be played.

Important Note: Games will be longer after group stage for beginners, nobody is eliminated in group stage, so don't worry too much for it. It is mostly a warm-up.
