Re: Spring 2009 Anime
Seems like Natsu no Arashi is everyone's "license to bitch" show this season, or at least most of the people I hang out with. However, I will continue to enjoy it alone.
I'm keeping everything so far, which includes (in order)...
Saki
Sengoku Basara
K-ON
Hayate no Gotoku!
Natsu no Arashi
Valkyria Chronicles
Pandora Hearts

Re: Spring 2009 Anime
Well here are my first impressions of the series I've watched some of so far:
Valkyria Chronicles (2 episodes watched) - This is the biggest surprise for me this season I expected to enjoy it, but so far it's my favourite.
Phantom "Requiem For the Phantom" (2 episodes watched) - The first episode was great. The second not so much, it seemed rather slow and drawn out with not all that much actually happening. But even so I'll be watching more.
Queens Blade (1 episode watched) - Ahh, no just no, I don't think I can handle more of this. I don't really like many of the character designs, the nudity is over the top, and I can't see the story being any good. Dropped for sure.
Saki (1 episode watched) - I know nothing about mahjong so I was a little lost at some points. But I'll most likely watch some more of it.
Shinkyoku Polyphonica Crimson S (1 episode watched) - Well after watching the first season, this episode almost seemed like a recap. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't really like the new character designs, but I do, so that's a relief. I'll be watching more for sure.
Tears to Tiara (1 episode watched) - I got my copy of the game just after watching the first episode, so watching the anime is on hold for now. Although I think I'll be disappointed a little since I can't help comparing it to Utawarerumono which I really enjoyed.
I'm not sure if I'll be watching any other series or not yet, but there a couple of others I'm interested in.

Re: Spring 2009 Anime
Pandora Hearts is epic. I wouldn't be that suprised if Alice or Sharon gets nominated for 2010. I know I'm going to be nominating next year. Most likely Alice. She's awesome.
Well, I haven't watched many. Just Pandora Hearts, 07-Ghost, and FMA 2
Too bad 07-Ghost only has like 4 girls. Being the only 4 shown so far.
Winry and Riza may get in. Riza definately should. I will nominate her.
I don't watch much.
Oh, I'm the only one that's watching 07-Ghost here. LOL!!!

No, I'm watching 07-Ghost here too. The yaoi undertones are being used quite skillfully.

Will watch:
07-GHOST
Basquash!
Cross Game
Dragon Ball Kai
FMA
K-ON!
Pandora Hearts
Sengoku Basara
But I only watched episode 1 of K-ON! and Pandora Hearts so far. Need to catch up.
K-ON!: I guess it's the characters that's attracting all the people. Yui is the only one that's keeping me watching this. I feel like Kyoani's animation quality significantly dropped from watching episode 1.
Pandora Hearts: I can already tell that I won't like Oz.

Re: Spring 2009 Anime
Okay so I'm going to totally rip off Kaito_Dash and Blacksmith_tony's format to do a Spring 2009 impressions for myself too. Note that my rating spectrum is extremely narrow, and only consists of 6 - 10, of which 7 and 8 makes up the bulk of my scores. As such, I've expanded one decimal place on every rating to better differentiate between what I believe is average and good. Also, all comments only relate to generic aspects of a show in question, and are kept as spoiler-free as possible.
Suffice to say, all current ratings are still extremely tentative, to the point where I haven't even given it the score in MAL yet in case of rapid change. However, end ratings should be within a reasonable 0.8 of these preliminary ratings.
Comments, Ratings, & tl;drShow
Basquash! (2/26) - Epic stuff. A perfect example of execution over plot/concept. Big robots playing big basketballs may sound ridiculous, but the way they pull it off (loads of CG, crazy music, lively characters) is mighty commendable. I can do with less ecchi, however. 8.3/10
Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (2/?) - I've been meaning to rewatch the FMA first season to refresh my rusty memories of the series, but I never found the time to. Having the whole series restart and promising to follow the highly acclaimed manga closely must be sheer fortune for me. For this remake itself, so far it's doing okay to trigger memories of old fans, but the mysteries it presents to a new viewer may be overwhelming. Oh well, time is something it still has, so I guess it can afford to perform such maneuvers in the beginning. 8.1/10
Hayate no Gotoku!! (2/?) - The intro of this second season starts off in such an intensity that it makes me completely forget about the Hayate hiatus in the past year, and able to immerse back into it's nonsensical fun without an iota of discord. Or basically, the transition was superb. It's also an interesting move on JC Staff's part to give Hina so much extra exposure compared to the 1st season. 8.1/10
Higashi no Eden (2/11) - A hilarious introduction complimented with fluid animation and voice acting (it's actually English!) makes this title ahead of the game already. Coupled with an underlying set of interesting intricacies and a male lead that is, for once, the mystery himself gives this series the potential to be the winner of this Spring season, or perhaps even the year itself! 8.7/10
K-ON! (3/13) - Cute and moe makes up this title's raison d'etre, and in this category, it succeeds. Its comedy so far is decent, and characters very likable. It'll never become a masterpiece or an epic, but it's good enough for what it's worth. 8.2/10
Natsu no Arashi! (1/13) - From what I've gleaned from the first episode, this series seems to have science fiction married with slice of life comedy. There also seems to be some potential in character interactions, much like School Rumble. However, whether it's the art or something else, I just cannot seem to indulge into events themselves and am being kept at arm's length. 7.7/10
Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ (2/26) - A series that portrays an assassin's character development as he finds the meaning to his life while I get to watch him go through his dangerous missions one by one? Count me in. Having a female lead that I can drool over is also quite a bonus. Although some aspects of the show may be cliche'd, I believe they are necessary for upholding the interactions and the main character, so it should be worthwhile in the end. 8.2/10
Saki (2/?) - From a normal plot-reading perspective, this intro so far has just been your average Awakening of a Genius opener, and is also meant to familirize viewers with the backdrop, moejong direction, and yuri characters. On this part, it hasn't done bad, but is not particularly good either. A tad monotonous, I would say, but still decent. 7.9/10
Sengoku Basara (2/12) - It's not everyday you see hardcore war captains shouting English or dancing soldiers in OP -- and certainly not in a supposedly serious medieval Japanese setting! For an anime that has the ability to ridicule itself so flawlessly and soundly as to shame any professional troll, failure is already out of the window. Insane battles, fluid animation, and coupled with voice actors that actually enjoy their job for once makes this series argubly the liveliest of this season. 8.3/10
Shangri-La (1/24) - This one has plot potential, loads of it. From carbon taxing to the strange world to mysterious organizations, this title can be a winner simply by weaving these elements into a solid piece of story. Execution-wise, however, it remains to be seen if Gonzo still has the ability to tell a story right, as it seems episode 1 wasn't all that impressive in that area. 7.8/10
Tears to Tiara (2/26) - If anyone ever needs a readily obtainable sample of big fat cliches, look here. Despite me being probably the worst story predicter in existence, I still managed to foresee nearly everything that happened from the latter half of ep1 to the end of ep2. The only notable thing I didn't foresee was how utterly ridiculous the skeleton warriors were, and whether that's a good thing or not is a matter I simply do not want to delve into. Tears to Tiara as of yet hasn't bore me too much, but then, not much do anyways. 7.4/10
Valkyria Chronicles (2/26) - Two words: dull intro. The bland atmosphere, unexciting people, and the whole owning-an-entire-squadron-with-one-unit ordeal made these two opening episodes yawn-inducing. That being said, such blaringly obvious set-up episodes does give me hope that come ep3, the true beginning of the story, things will get much more exciting and appealing. 7.5/10
Guin Saga (0/26) - Yes, I haven't begun watching this yet, so it is part of my plan-to-watch. Anyways, the trailer looks really epic, and from what I heard, the novels are one of the longest ongoing ones in Japan, which says quite alot about its popularity. Also, the soldiers actually knows how to fight, and leopard man makes me lol in a good way.
