[10:21] friend: I really like K-ON
[10:21] me: Yeah, same.
[10:21] friend: The concept of a show about a retarded girl is pretty cool
[10:22] me: …Ha.

Yui is funny.
So what are your first impressions of K-ON? Animation looks too much like
Lucky Star? KyoAni has been interesting with the 'simplistic' art where outlines are rough and some body parts are cartoony. But at least they do it well ... or am I just kind of confirming them because they're KyoAni? You can do something simple really well and creatively right?
And I fear for Yui getting hit by a truck in the middle of the street one day.

Actually, my first impression of the animation will forever remind me of Kannagi, and that is definitely NOT a bad thing. Content-wise it's simple but effective: four girl ensemble meet at the beginning of high school and will undoubtedly have many adventures down their road to graduation. What really sets this apart is the music aspect I hope it plays in a lot more as the show progresses.
TRUCKED LOLI? orz
Oh yeah, the ending is absolutely awesome. It's already one of the best ending videos I've seen.

Yeah, I love the ED. I typically don't put much stock in EDs, but I thought K-ON's was excellent. The OP is nothing to sneeze at, either.
I hope this show ends up having lots and lots of Mio.
And if somebody pointed out the fact you have no wings...
...wouldn't mean a thing.

I love OP and ED... i dunno why many people didnt like OP
*maybe because i listen too many CV*
Anyway i love it... manga and anime...
I like how they change Yui dojikko level in manga from average to super duper infinite level in anime...
And i cant wait for more K-ON anime...
The only thing i didnt like in anime is Mugi eyebrows... *too thick*

Current top ten list August 2020:-
1) Yoshino Sakura (Da Capo) 2) Nikaidou Shinku (Irotoridori no Sekai) 3) Kagamigawa Chloe (Memories Off 6) 4) Tamura Yuri (Watamote) 5) Tsuruta Himeko (Saki) 6) Hibiki (Kancolle) 7) Kujikawa Rise (Persona 4) 8) Sheila Helman (Rance series) 9) Furuhashi Fumino (Bokuben) 10) Adolf Retia (Daiteitoku)

First impression: Wow, Yui looks like Haruhi without that yellow hair tie thingy in the back. (This is a good thing.)
So the first episode is funny but it didn't live up to my expectations. Then again, this is my most anticipated anime ever (I can't remember feeling as excited for an anime to release), so my bar was very high. But I can't say that I was disappointed after seeing the ED. It made me look forward to seeing more, and that's a sign of an anime I will enjoy.
Then again...that's what I said about Index after the first episode, orz.
Random comments:
-I have no clue why people like Mio so much. Is it because she seems like the tsundere type?
-They're all pretty much cute, at least above average.
-I want cookies.
-Lol for "Jimmy" Hendrix. Nice job Chihiro.
-The song that they played near the end of the episode was amazingly simple and sweet. That's what I call "light."

Well K-on! is something different from Kyoto animation, genre music, slice of life. Meaning no Romance this time. I guess K-ON! will also be as entertaining as Lucky Star i guess.
The characters are pretty cool aswell.

It was an ok first episode. Got faint LS vibes from the character archetypes of the four girls. Hopefully, we'll see some character development later in the series. OP was ok, ED is great...Mio is lovely. That is all.

First impressions seem to be better than those for Lucky Star. But than most people were complaining about something like eight minutes of the main characters talking about how to eat different foods for the first episode. But then I didn't encounter Lucky Star until their cosplay cafe episode.
The character designs are a bit more realistic than those in Lucky Star, but less so than Haruhi and certainly less than Clannad. Thus gives them a little more room for cartoonish humor than if it was more realistic.
People are already declaring waifu status for the characters...which I don't recall happening with the Lucky Star girls until several weeks had passed. Not sure if that is a good sign for the show, or a bad sign about the audience.

I like the OP more than the ED. The former has less Engrish.

It was a good start to me. The OP and ED were good. The animation was nice. The story was fun and interesting (let's how far they band will go) with lovable characters. Yui makes me remember a little of Osaka... which is a good thing. It seems like next year KyoAni empire will receive more additions... maybe the monopoly of entertaiment in the galaxy?

I loved this first episode. Awesome OP/ED and very likeable characters. Favorite characters are probably Yui and Mio for now, but the other 2 are really cute as well. Yui made me laugh quite a few times
Only thing I'm pissed about is that it will only be 13 episodes

KyoAni always puts that extra effort to just make things enjoying to watch visually and I loved the character designs from Kannagi, so K-On at least gets points from me there. The trolls picking it apart for sheer QUALITY make me lol.
The idea of the show makes me a little depressed, but at least the girls are cute in a sort of arch-type-y way, like how Ritsu just reminds me how all the drummers I know are insane. Butbutbut Left handed + bassist + long dark hair = I'm one of the Mio groupies already with a soft spot for eyebrow-tan Mugi. Sorry to say that Yui seems to be my least favourite girl based off the first episode, uis. ;x
I think the thing that impresses me the most is how the main cast are all relatively new seiyuu, though I guess KyoAni did this with Munto and Haruhi. I'll stfu about the seiyuu thing here for now, but I'd just like to say that I like Mio's singing more than Yui's. But I find the OP song more fun.

I like Yui; the standard dojikko/bitscrewedinthehead really clicks with my moe meter. Ritsu will also be fun to watch. I'm indifferent towards Mio and Tsumugi for now.
Contrary to many people's impressions however, K-On! hardly reminds me of Kannagi or Lucky Star. I can see where they come from, but I just don't get those vibes strongly. Anyways overall great animation, cute characters, decent comedy. A permanent resident in my Spring 2009 watchlist indeed.

I am officially addicted to the OP and Yui's voice.
