Ugh, I hate choosing the 'best' something or other...how should I choose the best? -_- Too hard...but here's what I went for.

1.Best lead (Male): Kenzo Tenma - Monster (/Johan)
2.Best lead (Female): Hanato Kobato - Kobato.
3.Best supporting (Male): Isaac Dian - Baccano!
4.Best supporting (Female): Miria Harvent - Baccano!
5.Best pet: Sakamoto - Nichijou
6.Best Seiyuu voice: Hirohashi Ryou (Alice Carroll and Aoi Yamada)
7.Best Opening theme: Wait...just one? Hmm...any of the ARIA series' one. There were scenes going on whilst the OP played, which changed every time, that I think was a nice touch. Just judging by song? Won't answer. :P
8.Best Ending theme: In recent memory, Resuscitated Hope (Gosick ED 1). I liked how Penguindrum's changed after a while though.
9.Best modern Anime: 2004-2005 = new? Then Monster It's 74 episodes and I've watched it 2/3 times.
10. Best retro Anime: Haibane Renmei from 2002, but Serial Experiments Lain (ooh, another good OP!) pre-2000.

Reminder: Start of November = ARIA. Hahi~

What's this?! Awfully hard choices this week, damn it. But here are my picks anyway:

1. Best Lead (Male): Okazaki Tomoya - CLANNAD (Sorry Okabe, you're great, but I had to give this spot to Tomoya.)
2. Best Lead (Female): Akemi Homura - Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (It's interesting how Saber's my absolute favorite, yet I think Homura makes a better lead character; though pretty much any of my Top 5 females could get a spot here - Erza, Kurisu and Yomi besides the two already mentioned.)
3. Best Supporting (Male): Roy Mustang - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (I could think of so many characters for this one... Izaya from Durarara!!, Break Xerxes from Pandora Hearts, Lancer from Fate/Zero, Accelerator from Toaru Majutsu no Index - even if he's technically a main character in the novels, Dr. Stein from Soul Eater, and I could go on since I generally think male support characters are the best male characters.)
4. Best Supporting (Female): Irisviel von Eizenbern - Fate/Zero (This wasn't a hard one as Irisviel is my favorite supporting female by far, but even though Nagato Yuki from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, Aozaki Touko from Kara no Kyoukai and Kiefer Knolles from Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu deserve a mention.)
5. Best Pet: Kyuubey - Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (hands down)
6. Best Seiyuu Voice: Saito Chiwa (The only seiyuu that got me to watch a series just because she voiced a main character. I also used to like Sawashiro Miyuki, though I was somewhat disappointed in her performance as Dalian - totally annoying.)
7. Best Opening Theme: Hacking to the Gate - Steins;Gate (by far)
8. Best Ending Theme: NO, Thank You! - K-ON!! (Also love "Brave Song" from Angel Beats and "Blood Teller" from Mirai Nikki.)
9. Best Modern Anime: Steins;Gate (How could it be anything else? Madoka Magica and Baccano! take the second and third spots, by the way.)
10. Best Retro Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion / Cardcaptor Sakura (Yes, I had many indecisions regarding the previous categories but still forced myself to pick one out of them. But here I just can't, because these anime are both great for very different reasons. Evangelion is a classic. It may get confusing at times, but has a rather good plot though it does leave some open ends. But that's not its main attractiveness to me anyway. I simply like the exploring of the character's psyche and the realistic portray of their behavior - especially the adults, by the way. All the symbolism is also rather appealing to me. As for Cardcaptor Sakura, it's probably the best children anime ever made. And the only one I've watched in my childhood and liked just as much upon rewatching it one year ago. It has a really compelling story behind the episodic happenings and well developed characters, to an extent that not many anime, let alone series aimed at children, can boast of.)

I'm bored, so I'm going to do a variant of this week's questions. Also going to condense the points.
The Worst
SpoilerShow
1: Worst Lead (Male/Female): Maria (HnG): While the minor character are getting their backgrounds fleshed out, she's a lead without much of a (believable) backstory, and she's just not that interesting in the first place.
2: Worst Supporting (Male/Female): Boa Hancock: Her backstory is supposed to give her a sympathetic air, but it does nothing to support her acts.
3: Worst Anime: Golgo 13
4: Worst Manga: Ouran High School Host Club: Tried to force my way through to the stuff that was supposedly good, couldn't get through the horrible start. Gender-shifted Ojou-sama at their worst is all I could get out of it.
5: Worst LN: .hack//Another Birth: Picked up when I was into the .hack franchise, after the first few chapters I was wondering how it even got published, especially with the rest of the legacy behind it. I could write better than that, and I'm not very good at writing.
Also, realized that one of the best VAs out there hasn't gotten recognised.
Norio Wakamoto: Instant win to (almost) everything he touches

Re: weekly Pick 5-10 #11: "Favorite"

Post by Bastion » Mon Mar 05, 2012 11:50 pm

week 11:
1.Character (This season): I don't know if I have a favorite character for this season, only because I'm going to try and not duplicate answers.
2.Anime (This Season): Papakiki (if this weren't so, Yuuta would have placed above). Realistic, nice characters/characterization, moments of cute, characters of moe. It just has a ton of likable things about it.
3.Song (guessing this should be 'This season'?): Happy Girl (ok, so didn't quite make it with the 'no-duplicates' XP) Papakiki OP, helps with the uplifting feel of the anime.
4.Character (Last Year): Miki Hoshii
5.Anime (Last Year): Even though it's still airing now (and so as not to duplicate again) Cardfight: Vanguard
6.Song (Last Year): Chihaya's song of [email protected] - Promise (link below)
7.Character (Of all Time): Kagome Ikaruga, and then Ayumu Nishizawa
8.Song (Of all Time): Cruel Angel's Thesis
9.Anime (Of all time): FullMetal Alchemist (Brotherhood)
10. Food: Pizza?
