Next episode: Sighs, part 2...

...in which Haruhi becomes the Ultra-Director we all know and love, Mikuru gets her Battle Waitress costume, Haruhi announces what the film is about (and the cast!), and the first day of filming.

(commercials and the first action piece... but ends before Mikuru Beamu!)

A real Mikuru beam is dangerous.

I really liked how the Mikuru Beam was done like an actual laser.
A typical anime style laser effect (brightly coloured visible lightbeam) would've looked flashier, but the aunthenticity of a realistic laser is much more rewarding IMO.

Not to mention that it follows the light novels.

The odd thing is, chronologically, this takes place immediately after "Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsuu VI"!

True. Also there are still four more episodes left in the season. They should all be reruns, but they are there.

So, brief impressions of Haruhi 2:

Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody started the series off very nicely, and it had pretty much everything I loved from season 1. Then came Endless Eight. I was actually pretty indifferent with Endless Eight because I only watched 3 of the 8 episodes, and for me, skipping the episodes is no different than skipping the reruns. But after Endless Eight, wow, amazing. Season 2 is pretty much an inside joke comedy kind of anime since we know what's going to happen. I simply loved it. For me, it rivals Fumoffu in entertainment quality, and it was very enjoyable.

Is it as good as Season 1? Not even close. But was I looking for something as good as Season 1? No. Season 1 was epic because it was new, refreshing, and confusingly interesting. After we know what's going on, unless there is new plot, everything will seem like background story, so I guess I should say Season 2 didn't disappoint me. I hope that there will be more Haruhi in the future, without reruns or Endless Eight, and with something else that wows me. But no, even with a new story, I will never expect Haruhi to be the same again.

And yes, I know all the hype from the novels. That's not what I look for in anime.

Vanishment/Disappearance was fresh and confusing to me

So was the dissociation. Since you end up with 2 parallel timeline things...

Yesterday and Today I watched eps 2-14 of the "second season".

I was dissapointed with Endless Eight. Yeah, I already knew how it would go so my expectations were low. But I still got dissapointed after the scene where Nagato tells that all the worlds weren't exact the same, but there are some different kinds of part-time job, for example. If they wanted to make it 8 episodes then they could have went a bit original and made the episodes using the differents kinds of events to keep things a bit interesting. If it was by endless alone I would probably give this season a 5 or 6.

Now as a complete opposite, Sighs 5 episodes were awesome! Made me remember how much I liked the first season. Over all the lenght of 5 episodes I was certainly feeling a great enjoyment. Now I really wonder if I should just ignore endless and give it a 10. Because E8, the overall enjoyment of the season certainly would go down but I don't think it's fair to give Sighs a low rating when it was that good.

New info for the Haruhi series... Disappearance (for those who doesn't read the novels it's the story that follow just after the last episode of the Season 1 reairing + Season 2) will be animated as a movie! Let's hope they won't do anything to dissapoint us again. Bu then Spring 2010 seems a bit far but isn't that much for a movie though~
