Let me see. Hina was champion - Shana won the title (Ruby 7) - Mikoto won the title (Winner's bracket) - Mio won (winner's final) - Azusa won over Mio and Mikoto (J-saimoe block finals)

I wasn't thinking of J-Saimoe. That's correct, but I'm certain that won't last.

I just noticed... if Super Best Moe counts, Kazuha (Detective Conan) and her team beat Azusa's team so in a way Kazuha had the saimoe championship for a few rounds, until Mikoto's team beat Kazuha's. At this rate, Haruhi or Mikoto will be unofficial champion after SBM.

(Or did Azusa have more votes than Kazuha 1 on 1 and she is still champion even though her team lost.)

I don't think it should count at all, the format of the tournament is too different... And I don't only say that as a fan of Azunyan ^^

Looking at this, this only follows AST and ISML. Had we put KBM into the equation, I would think Mio would be the champion right now (Azusa was defeated by Mikoto, who was defeated by Hitagi, who was defeated by Mio).
If you add SBM right after this, the champion would currently be Haruhi, since Mio was defeated by Ai, who was defeated by Haruhi.

When was KBM dropped from this equation?

3 consecutive Hanazawa reps were champion during 2012, interesting. But now that Kanade is champion, it may take awhile before we see a new champion.

Edit: Now that I think about it, I could think of a different direction the unofficial champion could change hands.

2011 KBM's tournament got reset which would null Mikoto's loss to Yuina and Mikoto would be reinstated as champion. Since the reset was decided before the Diamond 7 match, Kanade would be champion after beating Railgun in Diamond 7 since Mikoto was still champ after the reset of KBM's top 96. Now the interesting part, I thought Charlotte beat Kanade in KBM first, but instead, Erica beat Kanade in AST a few days earlier.

Tachibana Kanade (Angel Beats!): September 10, 2012 - August 5, 2013 (112 wins)
Misaka Mikoto (Toaru Majutsu no Index): August 5th - current (1 win)

Having the most successful title defenses (112 wins) and the longest reigning saimoe champion (329 days) in history since the inaugural saimoe title held by Takamachi Nanoha (316 days) and more than twice than the leading successful title reigns in a single run than Shana (52 wins), this amazing performance was finally electrocuted by Tokiwadai's ace, Misaka Mikoto. After being the closest unsuccessful challenger two years ago at Diamond 7, Mikoto finally pulls off a much needed victory at Topaz 1, this time, for the saimoe title. This victory makes a clear statement to all challengers: there is no such thing as unbeatable. This would be Mikoto's fourth championship title here in the unofficial World Saimoe Championship standings, tying with Shana for most championship titles. Her fans are clearly giving her the much needed round of applause for performing that seemed to be impossible, but the second chance was all that she needed to pull the momentum to her favor. it just goes to show that anything can happen here in the WWE ISML. Congratulations once again to Misaka Mikoto, and let her victory be savored for now. It will be a long, long time before we see something as remarkable as what Kanade has done throughout Saimoe history.

After being the closest unsuccessful challenger last year at Topaz 7
I think that was two years ago at diamond 7, as they didn't encounter each other last year ;)

So the rule is "which one the next defeats Mikoto will be the next champion?"

@Zefyris: Whoops, you're absolutely right. I seemed to have a little memory shuffle. Thanks for that correction.

@Tim: Pretty much, yes. Whoever defeats Mikoto will be crowned the new unofficial World Saimoe Champion. To answer your second question, minhtam1638, the one who started it all, is currently on leave as he has found other hobbies to do besides following moe contests. Make sure to say hi once he makes his rare appearance.
