Another successful defense at BGC by Illyasviel. Keep the momentum going, Illya.

Round 3: Illyasviel von Einzbern 5714 > Shinka Nibutani 3792

Congratulations to Shiina Mashiro for becoming the new Unofficial World Saimoe Champion. It looks like Illya wasn't able to keep the artist down.

Congrats to Mashiro. Maybe we can get a longish reign this time around.

Also, I feel super old seeing the first post and noticing that Yuina victory over Misaka happened in 2011...

So........ Aoyama is now Unofficial Saimoe Champ for the second time. And she reclaims it against Mashiro (same series) of all challengers. Nice!

That is correct. They may be good friends, but this was for the Unofficial World Saimoe Championship, and in the end, it was Aoyama Nanami (Sakurasou to Pet na Kanojo). Shiina Mashiro put up a good fight, but at least she knows that the title is now in good hands.

And Takanashi Rikka (Chūnibyō Demo Koi ga Shitai!) takes center stage and becomes the new Unofficial World Saimoe Championship. It looks like the wicked eye was just too much for Aoyama Nanami to handle.

I had a feeling that Kanade wasn't going to be the only Angel Beats rep to have become unofficial champ. Now Yuri Nakamura takes the lead as unofficial champ after a convincing win over Rikka.

Yes, Nakamura Yuri is the new Unofficial World Saimoe Champion. The question now is how long can this "boost" last?

And Makise Kurisu takes over as the new Unofficial World Saimoe Champion. Let's see how long she can hold onto it.

I'm thinking the unofficial title is being passed around like a hot potato lately.
This time Kurisu's most recent reign lasted only one round before Azu-nyan (Azusa Nakano) took control with a convincing win. That is now the second time this year/third time overall for Azusa based on the updated list.

^Yeah, it seems like no one can hold onto it for a decent while in Stella given how random people's taste are in a given day. While it makes the "who's next" feeling that much more exciting, it indirectly dilutes the "value" of the unofficial title. Either way, it does go to Nakano Azusa for now. We will see how long she can hold onto the title.

Since Nakano Azusa is in the race for the necklace, does that mean that, if she loses, she would drop it to whoever won the necklace?

No. Necklace matches were not included in the UWSC before. Look for example the first necklace match, 2011 Aquamarine: Misaka Mikoto was the UWSC at that time, but Tachibana Kanade received the most votes. Also an example that the character with most votes in the necklace matches doesn't necessarily win the necklace.

The saimoe results database is still growing. In a couple of months all relevant tournaments (for the UWSC) should be included.

Azusa's reign lasted a few rounds which is good, but it had to end sooner or later.
....... But no way did I expect Mikan to be that challenger to end her reign and claim the unofficial title. I also didn't realize that she had one other reign in 2008.

Thanks for posting about all of this. Things are pretty busy on my end, so I'm glad that other people are also wary of this.

As of Postseason round 3, Ayase Aragaki is unofficial champion since she won against Asuna.

For once, a Nova rep is unofficial champ. Tiara bracket day two, Chitoge gets the win over Ayase.
