Throughout the ISML 2016 season, I will be posting various ballots in this thread based on range voting. These will at least involve:

• Wecide
• Straw Poll
• Forum-based ballots

UPDATE (24 July 2016): Since Wecide seems to outperform Straw Poll in every way, I'm considering a transition from Straw Poll to Wecide for approval voting, too. I've posted a Wecide version below the Straw Polls, which are still posted.
UPDATE (14 August 2016): Use only the Wecides for approval. The Straw Polls have been spoilered.

How, What, When, Where:
The plan so far is to post a set of ballots in the post below based on the groupings of the first round Periods: Aquamarine, Topaz, Amethyst, Sapphire. I'll likely post similar sets of ballots based on later stages once I figure out how the main tournament works.

I plan to post new polls between rounds 3 and 4 of each period.

The post below will be updated with instructions for each activity, links to the ballots, and details about scoring. The post after that will occasionally be updated with the results.

Discussion is also welcome in this thread. Feel free to ask questions, give feedback, or discuss any part of these range voting activities.

Who:
Intended participants: ISML voters, including forum users and staff. Voters need not join the ISML Forum to participate in most of these activities, but I intend for at least one forum-only activity.

I invite all ISML voters to participate. I and this activity have no official association with the ISML tournament nor its staff. There is no competition between participants. There is no prize at the end of the voting season. This is just unofficial fun on the forum. Cast you votes when the ballots are posted, then enjoy the results as they become available.

Wecide: Rating
Instructions
Rate contestants on the following scale:

• 5 stars: strongly prefer.
• 4 stars: prefer.
• 3 stars: approve.
• 2 stars: indifferent, neither approve nor disapprove.
• 1 star: disapprove.

Notes:

• You must supply a display name since votes are not anonymous. I suggest also supplying a password to prevent unauthorized changes to your ratings.
• You can change or remove your rating at any time.
  • I strongly suggest rating every contestant, particularly using the 2-star/indifferent rating for characters for whom you have no opinion.
  • I would have set every contestant's initial rating to 2 stars if I could've. Whereas Wecide lacks that option, I must beg that you rate every contestant.
• Base your ratings relative to contestants within the ballot rather than to your favorites among the entire ISML 2016 field.

Instructions
Using the ballot tool (not yet available), rate each contestant on a scale from 0 to 100 and select one (1) Favorite. Submit the generated ballot to myself, Euphony, via PM.

Notes:

• 100 is best, 50 is indifferent, 0 is worst.
• Default value is 50 (indifferent) which is scored equivalently to Abstain. So if you're not at all familiar with the contestant, then you'd just leave it at 50.
• To aid with determining ratings, I recommend:
  • First rating your 2016 favorites at 100 and your anti-favorites at 0. These extremes together with the default value should then serve as references for the rest.
  • Thinking in terms of school grades: a letter-grade "A" contestant might be within 90-100, an "F" contestant within 50-60, an "anti-A" or "Z" contestant within 0-10.
• The choice of one Favorite presently has no effect on a contestant's score. For now, it is in similar spirit to the AP Top 25 polls, which track the number of first place votes.
