[STORY] New Waters (2014 Aquamarine)

Post by blaZofgold » Thu Apr 17, 2014 5:01 pm

Once Again (Results of Round 1)

The war begins again in earnest as nations and peoples across the universe watch in anticipation at the state of the galaxies. With the Empire supposedly in decline in Stella, the power struggle should be left for the remaining powerhouses to duke it out between themselves.

Or so was the plan, but the Council just HAD to falter at the crucial moment. Grand Master Shana was having a difficult year already, but disgracing herself before newcomer White Canvas Mashiro may be too much for the fiery girl to handle. While Techno-Commander Misaka can still keep the Council strong and pertinent, it seems that the Kugimiya Knights have fallen out of favor.

The Empire, on the other hand, is faring much better than previously anticipated. All commanders managed to scrape by with victories outside of their own factions. However, these short-sighted victories are almost sure to not last.

The highlight of this year's war is definitely the competition between the Aperture Interstellar Confederation and the Privateers of Atlantis. Both are incredibly powerful and at their respective highs, with strong performances all across the board. The Privateers are led by their Councilor Kanade and are currently allied with the KyoAni Empire for whatever reason, despite being easily powerful enough to become an independent faction. While their motives remain a mystery, they are a force that needs to be checked.

Aperture Interstellar Confederation looks to be on the rise this year, with powerful contenders in both galaxies. Data Archetype Liberators. Three words that have been burning fear and dread into the hearts of their foes. Between the quintet of fearsome warriors, four managed to walk away with clear and decisive victories. Taking key wins over the Empire's Blood Sight Mirai and Priestess Tōka, the Confederation looks to be nigh unstoppable. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the Council has been gathering forces in Nova and accumulating their largest squadron of commanders to date. Nova will inevitably become a bloodbath.

Psychic Command Misaki was able to control all of Captain Shiori's crew members, and Sword Shaman Yukina dodged a fatal blow from Tyrant Demon Ririchiyo's death spear. Both managed to come out alive and on top, somehow.

Insistence (Results of Round 2)

Domination continues by the main powers, and the forces are slowly consolidating their territories in this mad rush for the Aquamarine Stelloid, the first of the seven pivotal nodes of power within the universe. Even the chance to contest this valuable prize equates to positional and long-lasting advantage for the domain.

The Data Archetype Liberators are on fire. Sand Princess Tōka barely edges out a win against the Council's strongest resistance in Nova, Meat Bun Tsukiko. Though it remains to be seen just what the Liberators are actually liberating Nova from. One would say polyarchy before realizing that they ARE a polyarchy themselves.

Surprises lie at every corner as commanders pull out extremely fancy tricks to secure a solid standing for the rest of the warring season. Sword Shaman Yukina, a nobody from the Silver Links of Judicial Investigation, has entered into the battlefield unscathed and victorious. Veteran President de æquitate Hinagiku shows that she is not quite out of the age yet, and Captain Hitagi "the Crab" maneuvers her Assault fleet deftly around the guns of polyarchy, landing direct damage onto Head Mistress Yozora of the Friendship Corps.

From the corner of the universe, a deep, hearty voice booms: "Mada mada tsuzuku"

Domination (Results of Round 3)

The Data Archetype Liberators are on fire. With the exception of the under-performing Thousand Crane Origami, the Liberators have not dropped a single battle since the start of the war. Origami really needs to get her weapons checked, her firepower has been incredibly lacking in these past fights.

On the topic of under-performers, Navigator Yui has had one of the most pitiful starts of all veteran commanders, ever. Right alongside her is Priestess Tōka, who showed admirable performance previously but is currently suffering tremendously. Both these commanders need to step up their game and not sully the prestige and honor of being a Moe War veteran.

In war, however, only the victors live to tell the tale. With one Tōka eating the dirt of defeat, another Tōka is currently flaunting her prowess and defying expectations. The Sand Princess was seen as a weaker member of the Liberators prior to the outset of the war, but is now doing unexpectedly well on the battlefield. On the other side of the universe, White Canvas Mashiro is continuing a war rampage that began an entire year ago. Many expect her to mercilessly tread on her opponents as she walks almost nonchalantly towards victory.

Redemption (Results of Round 4)

Origami pulled herself deeper into the cave as the world around her erupted into hell.

She had ventured into the field of battle rashly, irritated by her string of defeats and complete failures. In her rage, she foolishly ordered her forces to engage the enemy at a risky juncture. And now, she was paying for it.

Missiles rained down from the sky as the earth shook with the resounding blows of twin hammers smashing into the earth. Out of the chaos, a voice rang loud and clear:

"Hahaha! You shall not escape your Death!"

Origami clenched her teeth. She cursed her incompetence and her foolishness. Too many times she had maneuvered herself into situations like this; too many times she had given her dissenters justification for their insults. She glanced around at the hopeless situation around her. Was it all over...?

Or maybe it was still too early to tell.

Mjolnir Maul Sanae stopped her rampage as she noticed a white-haired, battered figure stepping out from behind a crag. Grinning wickedly, Sanae revved up her hammer and dashed towards Origami at lightning speed. At the last moment, Origami powered up her boosters and sidestepped the incoming meteor. The explosion as Sanae hit the ground sent up a dust cloud that blossomed over the battlefield.

When the dust cleared, the two girls stood facing each other. One had a relaxed and arrogant look on her face, nonchalantly spinning her dual-hammers as she smirked at her opponent. The other girl was bruised and injured, panting heavily after being on the defensive for an entire battle. But her eyes told a different story. She glared back at her opponent and managed to pull her lips back into a grim smile of determination.

This wasn't how her story was going to end. She would go home victorious.

She, Thousand Crane Origami, would not be folding here. Not today.

Silence (Results of Round 5)

"Flame Efreet."

The red-haired girl with scarlet twintails turned at the sound of the voice. She stared at a girl who smiled back with vacant, empty eyes. The visitor did a little curtsy and a spin, brushing her jack-o-lantern dress against the twilight air.

"Nightmare. What are you doing here? Please don't abandon your post."

The black haired girl grinned with a huge, malicious grin.

"Ah...don't worry about that."

She stopped smiling.

"...well?"

Kotori pulled a lollipop out of her mouth as she chuckled. "The manipulator of time, asking me for a forecast of the future? How quaint."

The grin came back. "Now now...you know that even I can't predict tomorrow."

Kotori sighed and resumed sucking on the sucker. "Well, it's what you see. Our entire Liberator squadron is performing exceptionally well-"

"-except her," interjected Kurumi.

Somewhere in the distance, a white haired girl sneezed.

"...yes, besides her, everyone has been doing fine...except..." The Flame Efreet was lost for words.

Kurumi's grin didn't leave her face. "Well, what will come will come. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be heading back now." And with that, the Time Nightmare vanished into the shadows.

Kotori pulled out the lollipop from her mouth and stared hard at it.

"You know, I've always wondered what flavor this is. Strawberry?"

Elite (Results of Round 6)

The true leaders of Nova galaxy have finally played their gambit tonight.

The Black Lotus has always been a wildcard in these galactic struggles. A single form and sole representative of Cerebral Charge, silently working with the Corporate Sector, she rarely reveals her true strength and conceals much of her data. However, that did not stop her from completely decimating Mori Summer Shinka, a respected powerhouse of the Eight Stars of Delusion. If the second-in-command of the Stars can fall so easily to Kuroyukihime, it still remains to be seen whether the black warrior can prevail against the sorceress, who has succeeded in being the first commander to fell a Liberator not named Origami.

Not to be outdone, Flame Efreet Kotori slammed the Goddess Eru down from her heavenly fields of rice into the cold hard reality of defeat. Eru has been colossal and a seasoned veteran, which only further highlights Kotori's level. Perhaps a Nova can finally challenge the stars of Stella?

Truth (Results of Round 7)

And it all comes falling down.

Internal struggles within the Liberators have pitted Flame Efreet Kotori and Time Nightmare Kurumi against each other in the hottest battle of the war. Axes clashed against the shadows, and the fire blazed in the overwhelming darkness. The turmoil and skirmish was so huge that Thousand Crane Origami was able to use the distraction it caused to escape the scene with a victory. In the end, when the darkness lifted, all that remained was a still, small, burning flame. And thus the true leader of the Liberators was born, or rather was always there, blazing herself away.

The Sorceress and the Black Lotus clash in their fight of epic proportions. Though the battle was close, Rikka was able to best Kuroyukihime in a battle that proves once again that ranged kiting against melee opponents is an undeniable advantage.

The train has crashed, because White Canvas Mashiro takes her very first loss ever before the intergalactic phase of the Great War. Fittingly, the Hierophant is the one who claims victory, having quite an impressive winning record herself. All throughout Stella, the hopes and aspirations of rising stars like Archon Ayase and Friend of the Vampires Kobato are being shot down by the veteran faces of the galaxy. It seems that the Aquamarine Stelloid is destined to fall into the hands of history.

Shock (Results of Round 8)

"Huff...puff...huff..."

She could barely control her breathing.

"Huff...puff......ugh..."

Dropping to one knee, she struggled to get up, her entire body shaking uncontrollably.

"Ugh...ah......ah..."

Her hands were on the ground now, barely lifting up the head that had once stood so proudly above others.

Dark lightning ripped across the sky as the entire planet erupted in tremors. The Aquamarine Stelloid, fixed at the core of the planet, was beginning to surface. Whoever claimed the powerful stone would receive immense power and energy beyond imagination. She knew. It was once her's before.

She looked up at the figure standing on the hill across from her. The lightning flashed, illuminating the figure of a girl, hair streaming in the wind. Her silhouette was dark and ominous, but against the heavens, she looked like the embodiment of an angel.

The angel flipped a coin into the air. A voice in the wind.

"That was a good fight. I'll see you around sometime. Goodnight, Kanade."

The swirling electricity rips through the air as a enormous laser shoots out across the horizon. Kanade closed her eyes, a soft smile on her lips and a single tear on her cheek. As she let the lightning embrace her, only one thought crossed her mind.

I'll get you next time...Railgun
