It's a beautiful summer day. A light breeze passing through the window stirs up the silent space occupied by two peculiar individuals. Over the monotonous scratches of pencils, a girl offers a weary glance outside, halfway lost in her daytime fantasy. It's a hot summer day. Often she wonders the reason why she chose to commit herself to this duty. She became president to form the service club for others, but what does she really want for herself? Looking at the artist furiously working on his masterpiece nearby, she lets out a sigh and accepts him for who he is, an accomplice of her foolishness, a comrade, a destroyer of her livelihood, a keeper of lost dreams.
Nozaki: Hmm... Yes... Hmm...

Yui: *sigh* We haven't had a single request yet ever since we formed the Service Club. All those Yui requests turned out to be fake. Does no one need any help at anything?!?

Nozaki: That's it! Maybe...

Yui: Are you even listening to me, sensei?

Nozaki: What? Oh. Help? I need some help.

Yui: Really?!? What do you need help with?

Nozaki: My manga. I'm stuck on this portion that I don't know how to get right. My assistants are busy and I wouldn't mind some help.

Yui: Hooray! Our first request...even if it comes from inside the club. So, how can I help you with your manga?

Nozaki: Go on a date with me.

Yui: What!?

Nozaki: I need to act out this scenario in real life. You won't mind, of course?

Yui: Um... Well... of course not! But why me?

Nozaki: You look like someone who's been on lots of dates.

Yui: Somehow I don't feel like that's a compliment... When should we-

Nozaki: Now. Let's go.

Yui: B-but, someone needs to watch over the seitokai and... Nozaki-kun? *sigh* He's gone...
The wind carries a gentle song to my ears. The trees rustle and the birds sing, as if following the sweet melody of the music. Even if this memory is not real, I will still treasure it always, so I can make it come true in my dreams...
Yui: *pant pant* Nozaki-kun, wait for me.

Nozaki: Am I walking too fast? Someone I know often tells me the same thing.

Yui: Let's have a bit of a rest. Where are we going anyways?

Nozaki: Hm, in this situation, I should let the girl decide. Maybe. Definitely. President, you decide.

Yui: President? That's not romantic at all. I mean...

Nozaki: Yui.

Yui: Um...I guess that's fine...

Nozaki: Where?

Yui: I guess we can go to the-

Nozaki: Of course, the amusement park! I've seen it all the time in manga. The first date has to be the amusement park, Yui.

Yui: Sure, um, wait up!
The amusement park -- a place where life is experienced in its fullest. A journey around the world. A haunted house. The tunnel of love. Where we ride on our feelings and bump our hearts. A house of mirrors. The sad sweetness of reality. The tears, the laughter. Where memories are created, where time is just an illusion.
Nozaki: Where should we go first?

Yui: We could go inside the haunted house. I've always wanted to try it but everyone is afraid too when I go with them.

Nozaki: That sounds like a good idea. Yes, it might work.

Steph: Nozaki-kun? President? What are you doing here?

Nozaki: We're on a date.

Yui: Wait wait wait, we're not really on a date... We're just here for... um... research.

Steph: I don't really get it, but who's taking care of the service club?

Yui: ...You're right, I'll run back to see if anyone has put in a request. Steph, you're Nozaki-kun's date now.

Steph: What? No... What?

Nozaki: Hm, it's fine you're still a girl. Let's continue.

Steph: Somehow I get the feeling that's probably the wrong thing to say...

Nozaki: Hurry, we need to enter the haunted house.

Steph: Wait, there? That's scary... Let's do something else.

Nozaki: I know exactly what to do in a situation like this.

*Nozaki reaches out and grabs Steph's hand*

Steph: W-w-what are you doing?

Nozaki: Holding hands is normal on a date, correct?

Steph: Yes... *blushes* I guess...

Nozaki: Let's go. I will protect you (!!!) or something.
The haunted house -- a place where we let loose the demons from inside our souls. Those who scream loudly understands that fear is simply something we recognize and have to overcome. Those who do not are lost inside their own consciousness, oblivious to the evils that lurk in the real world that they have shut themselves away from.
Steph: Wow that was scary. But Nozaki-kun, you're hurting my hand.

Nozaki: I wanted to make sure you weren't afraid. I did a good job, right?

Steph: Um, I guess so...

Nozaki: Now comes the kiss.

*Nozaki puts his arms around Steph's waist and pulls her closer...*

Steph: H-hold on just a minute! This is progressing waaaaay too fast.

Nozaki: Really? But I can't afford to end the chapter in the middle of the date. The readers will be livid.

Steph: But we're in public!

Ayase: Yes, what do you two think you're doing in public?

Steph: Ayase...san!

Ayase: Nozaki-kun, what say you of your ecchi misconduct in broad daylight?

Nozaki: Is this a rivalry? A love triangle? What a great opportunity this is.

Ayase: THIS IS NO LOVE TRIANGLE KEEP YOUR DIRTY THOUGHTS TO YOURSELF

*Ayase delivers a roundhouse kick to Nozaki's head but he deftly blocks it with his hand.*

Steph: Ayase...san, your pantsu are showing!

Nozaki: This is an unexpected development. Ayase is already showing me her pantsu on the first date. I must make a note of this atypical scenario.

Ayase: Stop staring you useless fuddrucking donginhaling fedorasucking kardashian buttgoblin. We're NOT on a date. I'm asking why YOU were fondling Miss Stephanie- STOP DOODLING IN YOUR NOTEBOOK AND LISTEN TO ME!

Nozaki: Such aggression... This is unlike the behavior of any of my manga characters. Perhaps I should add someone like Ayase to my manga as a foil to the idealized Japanese girl.

Ayase: You're actually starting to make me mad.

Steph: ...You weren't mad before?

Ayase: NO!

*Nozaki, apparently ignoring his current predicament, continues to scribble into his notebook*

Kobato: Umm... Hi...

Steph: Kobato, where did you come from?

Kobato: Oh... President Yui told me to check to see if Nozaki-kun still needs help... *hides behind Steph*

Steph: Now look what you've done, Ayase. You scared poor Kobato who just wants to help.

Ayase: Ugh, I don't want to be near this goth loli otaku freak anyways. I'm off, cya.

*Ayase walks away, leaving the three to their crazy pretend date.*

Nozaki: Are there girls who really act like that? I hope I took enough notes of this one-of-a-kind breed. How inspiring...

Kobato: Oh! I remember now... Steph... Yui told me to tell you that we have another meeting with the magistrate and she wants your participation.

Steph: *sigh* That's fine. Well Nozaki-kun, I guess Kobato will be your date now. Bye!

Kobato: Huh? Date?

Nozaki: You're quite a young one aren't you?

Kobato: I'm almost 14!

Nozaki: That's fine. There are lots of manga with these types of relationship too.

Kobato: ...

Nozaki: So where do you want to go?

Kobato: Um... I'm sort of hungry...

Nozaki: I remember passing by a meido cafe on the way here. Let's go.

Kobato: I guess... W-wait up!
Maid cafés (メイドカフェ) are a subcategory of cosplay restaurants found predominantly in Japan. In these cafés, waitresses dressed in maid costumes act as servants, and treat customers as masters (and mistresses) in a private home, rather than as café patrons. In other words, no normal person would come to such a place, and certainly not on a date with an underaged girl.
Nozaki: This place is quite nice, isn't it?

*Nozaki notices Kobato staring excitedly at a poster on the wall*

Nozaki: Kobato? What are you looking at!

Kobato: Ku-ku-ku. The time has come for this mortal fool to catch a glimpse of my true form.

Nozaki: ...

Kobato: Are you so brainless? Have you not heard of the great Reisys VI Felicity Sumeragi from KuroNec?

Nozaki: Kuroneko?

Kobato: No, I'm not Kuroneko!

Nozaki: But you sound a lot like her, now that I think about it.

Kobato: Not Kuroneko! Kurogane no Necromancer. Such blasphemy and insolence before me... Perhaps I should rid you of your life, mortal.

Nozaki: Is this what people call...tsundere?

Kobato: N-no!

Nozaki: That's exactly what a tsundere would say. Give me more, more!

Kobato: ...

Waitress: Goshujin-sama, are you ready to order?

Kobato: *sigh* I'm all worn out.
The warm evening light flickers by, from car to car, from flower to flower. Endless waves of impatient beings walk past each other in an unwavering manner, like mindless machines nearing the end of their daily task. Let evening come. The long uneven shadows cast by the two slowly halt as they look up to admire the last rays of sunset. Let the twinkling stars take their place in the desolate evening sky. Let the moon have its spotlight after an eternity of waiting. And for those who are fortunate enough to take a small moment in their busy lives to observe the dying heavens, let this be a respite into their monotonous life, so that perhaps they will offer back a rare smile.
Kobato: Nozaki-kun, isn't it beautiful?

Nozaki: I agree.

*Eventually, the two arrive back at the school gates*

Kobato: Um... Nozaki-kun?

Nozaki: Yes, Kobato?

Kobato: Thanks a lot for today. I really had fun-

Nozaki: Is it it? Is it the confession I've been waiting for?

Kobato: ...

Nozaki: Give it to me Kobato. Show me how it's done.

Yami: And what are you two doing?

Kobato: N-nothing!

*Kobato blushes and runs off before anyone can say another word*

Yami: Nozaki, what kind of a pervert are you that you went on a date with a 13 year old? Of course, it wasn't like I was stalking you or anything.

Nozaki: I get it.

Yami: What is there to get?

Nozaki: This is jealousy. You were the only person from the seitokai who did not go on a date with me today.

Yami: What?!?

Nozaki: I knew it! I have collected lots of precious information today. I must hurry and meet the publication deadline!

*Nozaki quickly leaves Yami, who is still too shocked to react*

Yami: Wait... I'm not jealous!

This sounds amusingly familiar
This CD is perfect for being amusing. We need to have Momo send Rito and Yami on a not-date now. Maybe as a reporter addition rather than a full CD though.

I'm currently rewatching a series that I really like. Since I know everything that's going to happen, I got sort of annoyed when I encounter a "filler-ish" episode that doesn't advance the plot. I wanted to get to the good part of the story, you know? But then I chanced upon some guy's blog about this episode, and he commented that even though we do want the story to move along, comedic and lighthearted episodes like these are really nice to have once in a while, and he enjoyed it. It made me appreciate the episode in a new light, or at least remember that different audiences will like different things.
