-The VN must not have been adapted into (or from) a TVA series, movie, or long OVA/ONA up to 2014.

-The character must be female and humanoid, and no traps.
-She must be significant to the plot (no cameos).

I haven't played many visual novels that were not adapted (since the reason I played them was because I enjoyed the adaptations). And the others were eroge that didn't really have strong stories. Here are a couple of visual novels I've played that I feel actually did have strong stories.

I would like to add that the characters from the second visual novel above are expies which are wholly different characters than the ones they were based on, and the story itself is nothing like any of the series any of the expies' base characters are from.

Edit: Last minute change. Adding Kanako and Mishima Tomo from Tomoyo After and Melissa Vonstrauft from Songs of Araiah.

I assume that Kanako would still be eligible even though she does make a very brief cameo in the Clannad anime but is not named in the scene and has only one line. Most likely thrown in for fans of the Tomoyo After VN.

And I totally forgot about Songs of Araiah. Mostly because I played it a few years ago when I downloaded Ren'Py on my old laptop.

Well if MAL says nothing means there won't be one. MAL is pretty spot on for news.
