What about Catarina?
Better to support a Kaguya Sama character than her, she's over.

You can support her by nominate again in ISML Next year. It's already over rn.

Anyway, I am disappointed with Catarina too, as she had been eliminated against Kokkoro. Don't worry, you're not alone.

huh? how is the consolation match-ups determined? i thought kyouko and asuka compete for third?
and what about the losers of the loser matches? since it appears they can't fight anymore, are they ranked based on seed?

edit: i jsust realized the "consolation matches" resembles a lower bracket format like the one used in isml 2008-2010. is that the format used for the seasonals today?

edit 2: fiddled around in the wikia and created this
here's how the consolation bracket would look like for each seasonal at that time
winterShow
springShow
is this correct? if not, is there a valid reason why?

ISML 2020 Charter
  • Elimination Stage will be a single-elimination bracket. Winner of the Seasonal Tournament will be awarded the corresponding Seasonal Diadem.
  • Contestants eliminated from the single-elimination bracket will be seeded into the consolation bracket. The contestant with the best performance will be deemed the Seasonal Runner-up.
As for the ongoing event, the loser of the final will enter the consolation bracket and will compete with the three winners of the consolation matches in an IRV arena. The winner of this match will be regarded as the runner-up of the season.

well the upper bracket losers' placements in the lower bracket are different from each season... they don't follow the pattern used in the 2008-2010 playoffs. (See kyouko/asuka and kokoro/karyl) So i think there's definitely a seeding method here. How is it decided? "Staff selection?" or "Highest seed plays lower seed?"
Edit: I think i know now ---- for each "bracket half", the highest-seeded Loser from the main bracket will play against the lowest seed from the consolation bracket's half. And then for the semi-final losers, the "Highest seed vs Lowest seed" rule still applies

Also...
what about the losers of the consolation matches? are they even ranked at all?

Kotoko won!!! Although i'm happier with the fact that Maple didn't win lol

Idk why but Kei Shirogane rubs me the wrong way (in terms of this contest anyways)... Kei's got her own merits, yes, but she's the perfect example of a side character who performs well because of popular series recognition alone. The kind of contestant that'll send r/anime users into a salt-spitting frenzy of complaints.
Last June in r/anime's Best Girl 7, she got SEVENTH seed out of 512 girls. Fortunately (for r/anime) she got kicked out by Rikka early in the tournament. Now she's in the ISML spring final thanks to the Kaguya faction. Even though Kei's going to face Miko Iino --- who in the manga, eventually becomes one of the main heroines in the story, she's very popular among Chinese voters (judging from me lurking in some bilibili / tieba contests), not to mention the IMOUTO buff.
I'm personally rooting for Miko to win the final "in order to bring some ... justice" to this contest.

.....
Well? is the "Highest seed plays lower seed" method correct? And what about the losers? are they going to play IRV matches too?

Please refer to the attached picture. This is how the bracket will progress if higher seed always wins. If higher seed loses, then the winner simply takes the loser's spot. Shifting is done in a way to minimize resulting change of seed spots, but in case shifts of large seed numbers are inevitable, then we will again try to pair highest available seed to the lowest available seed, assuming they haven't had a match between them yet. Praise Ennadai for the picture

Hahahahaha this is why you're the resident salt-maker here, keep it up
but seriously man, take the L now and be spared from pain. Katarina qualifies for next year if she wins the next two rounds, but she's going to have to beat ALL Priconne girls AND a Kaguya-sama girl to get there (assuming all higher seeds win). A very tall order for a villainess who's experienced nothing but bad ends.
