Koromo winning is an excellent result.
And Hachiko the Saki characters don't do well outside of AST not enough people want to watch Saki. Which to me is a huge shame.

She wasn't even able to get past prelims this year, so in 2011 when there will be a longer time since Saki ended, she will prob do worse.Hachiko wrote:Prognosticate for me, ladies and gentlemen. Koromo Amae: Boom, or bust in ISML?

I'm glad Nodoka won. Whatever happens, the result for Aoi vs. Azusa will be an interesting sight to see.

Wow I'm surprised Shana lost, but it was to Nodoka so I wont complain.

I think this was Japan's middle-fingered salute to the ISML because the same Nodoka that was hopelessly mismatched at the 2010 edition...is coming back.

most non-East Asians don't know how to play mahjong. That is probably the main reason for Saki being not popular outside of Asia.Hachiko wrote:I think this was Japan's middle-fingered salute to the ISML because the same Nodoka that was hopelessly mismatched at the 2010 edition...is coming back.

Re: Corner of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010
Shana lost
;; As much as I like Saki, Nodoka is one of my least favourite from the series, so I am disappointed that Shana lost. Since I don't want either Nagi or Azusa (even though I like Azusa a lot, i don't want K-ON sweep) to win Saimoe,I will cheer for Koromo.

Saki is for Japan only. Some east Asian countries such as China play mahjong, but Chinese and Japanese game rules are different, so I am not sure if Chinese people would understand what's going during the Saki Mahjong matches either. That probably is the reason why Saki does not get enough attention outside of Japan. Japanese participation in ISML is pretty low, so that is the reason why Saki girls can't perform in ISML.
I do not know how to play Mahjong, but I do recommend watching Saki though.

That being said, it's likely going to be a battle between Haramura and Amae as to who will get the wooden spoon next year.Cassiopeia wrote:Midst wrote:most non-East Asians don't know how to play mahjong. Re: Corner of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010
I doubt Nodoka or Koromo will be denied entry into the preliminaries. Nodoka's 2010 record indicates that she has not yet beaten one opponent outside of Mihoko in the same series. Koromo's preliminary record indicates that while it is possible for her to win a match or 2, there are too many in the preliminaries for her to pass and she won't be able to reach the regular season.

I am in some of the chatting groups that many of the members play mahjong in Japanese rules via Tenhou or some other platforms. Maybe they will know.Cassiopeia wrote:Saki is for Japan only. And I was working on the rules before Saki was on air - there was another mahjong game around 2009.03.12 and I started.
As far as I know Sakis cannot play well in KBM.
The problem is, this year it will be another Saki*2 VS Kugimiya*1 + K-ON*1. And Hayate has 'abnormal class popularity' among many of the Animated Chinese.
For today's match I can see Yamada for a bowl of dust. If she had not been Nagato's assassin...

Re: Corner of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010
Semi-finals are Nagi vs. Koromo an Nodoka vs. Azusa. As how the finals are going to look like, either it is a Saki final (a high possibility and the last thing I want to happen), Koromo vs. Azusa, Nagi vs. Azusa, or Nagi vs. Nodoka. I would like to see Koromo and Azusa go head to head in the finals.

Re: Corner of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010
Personally I want to see a final without graduated.
Consider Saimoe as a senior middle school.
For those lost in quarter final:
Fresh: Mafuyu, Ruiko, Aoi
Graduated: Shana

Re: Corner of Anime Saimoe Tournament 2010
Hoping for:
Koromo > Nagi
Nodoka > Azusa
I think it would be strangely amusing.
Probably wind up the other way round though.
