Off-Season Exhibition 1

Post by Chocola » Fri Oct 08, 2010 6:18 am

Which anime do you like more? You can interpret "like" however way you want. There is an abstain option, but I won't tell people how to use it, so just use it if you think you want to use it. I will continue these exhibition matches until I get sick of them.

Angel Beats! (anime forme) Not just for the characters, but for the music (:p) and the presentation as well. It was a very well-done show.
The manga is shaping up to be a little more boring though. Only gotten a short ways into it, but it doesn't seem to have the same character depth yet.
Haven't seen Haibane Renmei, and Spirited Away is a rather different format. If SA were redone into a weekly anime and/or Angel Beats were redone as a feature length film, I might have a different vote, but they worked well as they were presented.
Jamie AB is open for business. How would you like your hare-brained scheme?

Haibane name only, and third is unknown...
For AB(anime only) I have already accepted, but will not touch other format since time is always scarce.

Wait, Spirited Away is unknown?? It's like one of the all time greats! By who most people consider to be the greatest director in Japan. I guess it depends on the crowd huh? If you haven't seen it you should! :D

I watched and liked all of them. Spirited Away isn't my favorite Miyazaki at all though, and I have to vote for Angel Beats! Not only because of Kanade though ^^

Even if I like a lot Haibane Renmei, I think Angel Beats is better than Haibane for various reason.

Haibane Renmei for me. AB felt more like a summer flick (mostly eyecandy stuff with shallow substance) whereas Haibane Renmei had more depth to its overall story and characters. As for Spirited Away...I'm kind of neutral towards Ghibli stuff.

If it makes you feel any better, I voted for Haibane Renmei as it remained more true to the interesting theme of penitence and salvation.

In terms of feelings alone, Angel Beats wins by a mile. Spirited Away or Haibane Renmei have a higher score than AB! on my list and might've been chosen, if not for the fact that it's already been years since I've watched either of them.

I still find Haibane Renmei to be one of the most beautiful anime I've ever had the pleasure to watch. Reki <3

Angel Beats, while enjoyable, also left me frustrated. Maeda was right when he said 13 episodes wasn't enough for the show.

Spirited Away is awesome and has a ton of nostalgia-factor. Chihiro was always one of the anime heroines I looked up to while growing up.

But yeah, my vote is going to Haibane.

As much as I like Angel Beats!, essentially something is still off about the plot.
I find the huge misunderstanding(Tenshi-wise) to be on the unbelievable side. >.>

Never watched Haibane so...

Voted for Spirited Away. Love the story and the characters. <33
