Just realized something... If a Stella doesn't make it into the Regular Season, she also won't auto qualify for Stella next year right.... right?
Suprising!
My Pururut can't participate ISML this year.
The voters never carry their brains, ABSOLUTELY!!!!!
Kurumi is my last hope this year.
Let's get the Heavenly Tiara, Kurumi.
Side characters always received less love than main characters so it's normal. I didn't vote for any Nep girls cos I didn't have enough slots but my own side character failed to qualify as well, losing out hugely to the 2 main characters.
Not always. DAL is a den of side characters. ._.
Well most anime then. DAL is one of the few exception.

I almost overlooked.

This name should be changed to 'Fuyu(冬)umi(海) Ai'. 'yuu' is not a long vowel.
I beg to differ. The method of macrons work differently I think.

Too bad about Silica here, SAO season 2 is just around the corner and she missed out by 1 votes. Kanon is officially dead, I had expected Negima be so too but Evangeline is still holding onto near the very back. Yeah for Souseiseki coming back, last year she was close. Just noticed Gasai Yuno here again, her fans are sure stubborn.
So how much change does this have on the original seeding?

We want to collect more data and get some expert ( = TRE and others ) opinions before deciding upon the prelim seed.

If this name is translated to Korean, a problem comes up.

Yatogami Tōka(夜刀神 十香) --> 야(夜)토(刀)가미(神) 토(十)카(香)
Kaga Kōko(加賀 香子) --> 카(加)가(賀) 코(香)코(子)
Yūōji Ōka(遊王子 謳歌) --> 유(遊)오(王)지(子) 오(謳)카(歌)

BUT

Fuyūmi Ai --> 후유미 아이
冬海 愛衣 --> 후유(冬)우미(海) 아(愛)이(衣)

'冬海 愛衣' cannot be translated into '후유미 아이' because '冬' is translated into '후유' and '海' is translated into '우미'.

I know nuts about Korean. Only well versed in Japanese so I couldn't understand anything except if there is no macron, you'll have an extra 우.

I'll let maglor answer this then.

I agree with the tie-breaking round.

It won't make much difficulty to make it, right? I think it's a better solution than staff decision like this, with non-stated-before reason.

That one was obvious ._.

Idk how ISML macron stuff and since I don't use macron myself when translating Japanese to Romaji, I won't really know how macrons really work in this case but maglor have agreed to it so he might ask Crisu to change it later.

I guess most of the time people will read it as Fu(yuu)mi instead of FuyuUmi if you don't know the kanji.

Good grief.... Clannad is almost (Mei didn't make it) at full house again, just like the old days. Too bad, though. Nowadays the only ones who have any power left are Kyou, Tomoyo, and Nagisa. And their popularity is waning when compared to more recent series. I would be very surprised if more than those three make it through the preliminaries.

And I'm a little surprised all six main Kanon girls still made the runners-up list. Although Kanon is one of my top five favorite series, I'm not at all interested in seeing any of the girls make it to the regular season to be clobbered mercilessly. Because I'm neither a sadist nor a masochist.... -_-

Anyway. Now for a wonderfully lopsided comparison of my nominations to the results:
StellaShow
Saten Ruiko - Rank: 12 - Noms: 1978
Oshino Shinobu - Rank: 8 - Noms: 2397
Haruna - Rank: 19 - Noms: 1272
Kirishima Shouko - Rank: 16 - Noms: 1422
Makise Kurisu - Rank: 3 - Noms: 2905
Touwa Erio - Rank: 15 - Noms: 1614

It looks like I was able to play it safe here as everyone I nominated all received over 1200 noms. I am surprised that Subaru placed so high with 1400 noms, especially considering she ended up at the bottom of the bunch last year. I dunno if she or her series might have gotten a few more fans, but I will be very disappointed (with the voters) if she does poorly again after this.
NovaShow
Nanasaki Ai - Rank: N/A - Noms: < 23
Ayatsuji Tsukasa - Rank: 261 (runner-up) - Noms: 24
Ayase Chihaya - Rank: 137 (runner-up) - Noms: 59
Ayuzawa Misaki - Rank: 167 (runner-up) - Noms: 42
Kamikita Komari - Rank: 61 - Noms: 118
Nishizono Mio - Rank: 115 (runner-up) - Noms: 70
Amagi Yukiko - Rank: N/A - Noms: < 23
Ushiromiya Ange - Rank: N/A - Noms: <23

.....
..........
Yay, Komari got in! :bigsmile:
.....
Ah, who am I kidding? -_-

I sure do know how to pick them, don't I? This is a direct result of not keeping up with the latest series as they air. I actually knew that neither Yukiko nor Ange had a chance when I put their names down since they hail from niche series. And given that Amagami only got one girl to the runners-up list, I will be forced to give up on them from now on...
Oh, by the way. This was Athena's first eligible year for ISML. And she only received 45 noms. This is compared with getting the top spots in the ineligible list in both 2012 with 109 noms and in 2011 with 148 noms, and the 9th spot in the ineligible list in 2010 with 29 noms. Was Cuties just that bad? Or have all the HnG fans just given up by now?

I'm willing to humor Bastion by pretending to listen to his theories about the manga during those years and how that correlates with Athena's popularity. ;P

For the discussion above :
冬海 (Fuyuumi) cannot be written Fuyûmi. this is a mistake, period. LoveLive is 100% correct. There is a significant difference in pronunciation between the two.

Same goes for Kotoura indeed. Cannot use the macron there either. Same reason. this isn't pronounced the same.

On the result, it's disapointing. Even Tsumiki Miniwa didn't pass the nomination. Is it me or the increase in ballot basically means the end for almost any character who didn't get something in animation the previous year?

I'm surprised that Asuka and You from Mondaiji were so close of not being nominated. We have two hcaracters from mondaiji in auto qualified and we almost didn't have any nomination for the best two characters from the same series? heh. Well, I didn't nominate them though. but that was partially because I though they'll have no problem getting in, I guess, at least for You.

Well Fuyuumi thingy I kinda can understand. I was just stating idk how macrons really work

As for Kotoura, perhaps that so too. Not saying he's wrong. I DID state I wasn't sure how macrons really worked anyway so I was just guessing. All I know is Kotoura is read as Koto-u-ra.

'五更' can be pronounced 'Goko-o'. 'Goko-u' or 'Goko-o', either one may be fine.

However, '琴浦''s case is different. '琴浦' MUST be pronounced 'Kotoura', CANNOT be pronounced 'Koto-ora'. Same as '冬海'.

I think this distinction is the difference between macron and non-macron.

This is true. The u sound is used to extend both u and o, and in that case the macron would be correct, but in this case it's more akin to it being a separate syllable rather than being extending the previous vocal sound. It's not extending it, the pronunciation is much different from what it would be if it were, thus the macron shouldn't be used.

Also obligatory yearly comment on the nominations since that seems to be the only time I ever go on the forums:

Damn it, I should have asked a friend to vote or something... Hanekawa just needed one more nomination. Just one more. I would feel a little bad for having Celes out because of that but still. Also, this is where I say it sucks the same number of nominations meant Hanekawa and Silica (whom I dislike but whatever) stayed out of the prelims while Celes and Kudou Asuka got in, but I respect the staff's decision, specially considering it does makes sense to give the newer characters priority.
NominationsShow
Image
Stella:
Everyone in but Kawasumi Mai. Expected. It's fine.

Nova:
Haqua du lot Herminium - In. Thank god.
Hanekawa Tsubasa - Out with the same amount of nominations as the last characters in. I hate myself for not asking a friend to nominate her.
Irisviel von Einzbern - Out as expected but further down than expected. I'm just sad for this.
Miki Sayaka - Barely in. The less certain of my nominations along with Hanekawa, so I'm just ridiculously happy she's in. Is all.
Kousaka Chihiro - Out. I had no idea how this would go but I was actually kinda hopeful. She was further down than expected.
Watashi - Out as expected. Got more nominations than expected, so I'll probably keep nominating her in years to come.
Fuwa Aika - Out. Funny thing how she got the very same number of nominations as Watashi.
Isayama Yomi - Obviously out. I feel like I'm wasting a slot but I still do it anyway. I actually even felt bad on giving up on Yuuko this year, yet coming here and seeing maglor still nominated both of them. *sigh*

On the other hand, I feel like I should have nominated Tenri. Probably in place of Chihiro, or even Yomi, despite that meaning to stop being stubborn. Tenri was close. That's sad as well.

So this is a disappointing but not unexpected 2/8 for me.
Regarding stuff besides my two nominations that made it, the Nova characters I'm basically as happy about making it to prelims would be:
Akatsuki, Shokuhou Misaki, Kuroki Tomoko, Sakura Kyouko, Kaname Madoka, Kurugaya Yuiko, Shiomiya Shiori and Celestia Ludenburg.
