Help - Animated gifs for 2015 Phase II

Hello, friends. We're looking for talented volunteers to help us out with animated gifs for our new Phase II faces this year. We are doing females only; Male tournament will have regular avatars.

Here is the line-up, along with what we have so far from previous years:

If you are able to produce some gifs for us, here are some guidelines:

1. The animated scene should be loopable ... or the transition between end and restart should be smooth.
2. Runtime should be a few seconds, so it doesn't repeat too quickly. Probably 4 to 6 seconds.
3. The target file size should about 250kb. Less is better, but please don't go overboard.
4. The pixel size must be 128 x 102. We cannot be flexible on this so please observe this condition, strictly.
5. No borders nor rounded corners. Again, please observe this, strictly.

6. Do not alter the aspect ratio of the image. It is very noticeable.
7. A portion of the animation (about a second) should be still or have little movement, so voters have a moment to focus on the character's face.
8. If the file size is too large, do not drop frames throughout the animation. Instead: a) crop from beginning or end, or b) reduce number of colors

I'm on my phone right now so I can't use images to help, but if you are using Imageready, you can select the last frame and using the animation menu, select "tween" and use the first frame.

To do this manually, you will need the final frame and the first frame's image layers to be visible, and then lower the opacity of the top layer gradually. Say you want three frames of transition: then you'll have four frames of your final layer where the final layer goes 100%, 66%, 33%, and 0% opacity. Then, if you did it right, it should fade to the very first frame of your gif.

again if this is confusing, maybe someone can post image screenshots, or i can do it much later tomorrow when i have time. thanks for all the submissions so far everyone!

edit: in the case of your gifs i don't think you really need it since it feels pretty smooth, but maybe for the second one !

I use ImageReady in combination with my Photoshop, but you are welcome to use Photoshop or whatever suits you best! Photoshop from CS3(?) and up will have animating tools embedded within the program, you might just need a tutorial or two for your particular version!

I also believe you can make them in GIMP too!!

And for everyone: if you don't have the tools or time to make them, please post episode numbers and times that you think would make good gifs!! that can also be a great deal of help for anyone interested in making them!!

You only need to download a free GIF maker really. I used that for Kotori's GIF last year and that is the winning GIF.

Dam... I was hoping I could do some for guys.. is there a specific program you can use for this or do we have to use whatever we have like photoshop?

• Free Vid to JPG convert vid to image(jpg)
• Irfanview quick viewing/estimating how much to crop/resize
• FSResizer batch crop,resize, bright/con/gamma/sat/color/sharpen/blur quite a lot of handy tools
• Microsoft Gif Animator for obvious reason. i hate that i have to manually load the files one by one and have to do it in backward order. but it gave me prettier,smoother result than Photoscape. annoying but i like it the best
• AnimateGif excellent quality. used to be my fav until i realized that there's white dot in the corner of the gif created. uninstall worthy

muh tools , until just now. I learned that I can file>scripts>load files into stacks and animate them basically do em all using photoshop(i use cs3). what have i been doing with my life?

OOoOoOooOoOoOOoo!! Thank you Kuki!! I tried to make some gifs of my own though..I'm having trouble finding episodes with scenes I find would fit as a gif, as well as downloading said video to gif / frame makers.

When in need (or I don't care for the show itself), there are always AMVs or random Youtube clips that might highlight something worthwhile.

Ah, haha, I mess around too much sometimes, changing random things. I hadn't realised most were already chosen, so I did a couple more:

I love how expressive Chiyo is throughout the series. I won't bother updating the other 2 gifs cause I don't think those are much good.

This is probably bit too fun and the chosen one is pretty awesome anyway. But I had fun rewatching scenes from NGNL. Gold show.
