At the time ToC was relatively new, and as we all know ToC is indirectly "a retirement", so...

A deeper analysis about vote spread, particularly in China, is required.

Even if there were Yukino fans who naively, arrogantly, ridiculously thought Yukino should continue staying in the main tournament, and later she would easily have another chance showing up in the Tiara final, they should be very few.

We can say that now. We cannot say that then.
My question is: how few? Is it enough to "make China betray Yukino"?

It is a case of very few abstains in China while other countries had higher proportion of abstains. Asuna-Rem match had one of the lowest abstain rate in China compared to other matches.

Emmm what happened to Jibril?

Jibril is #21. She lost her place in top 20, losing to Shino.

Why is Mitsuha above Shino and Jibril, then? Because I thought Mitsuha was deemed too weak to even participate in the consolations.

Because she has a better CVP than both Jibril and Shino. We ranked based on CVP + Consolations matches.
Shino, Jibril, Utaha and Saber had a chance to face some Round of 16 opponents as Diamond 5th (It acted as WildCard matches, that we didn't had for Diamond Period).


As 6th of Diamond Period, Mitsuha never had this chance in the first place, however, during Regular Season she had overall better results than Shino and Jibril.

Have to admit, Korosensei is stronger, especially in Japan & China. Although most Chinese support him, but I still prefer Hachiman.

It’s confusing when different parameters are used to determine the consolation participants and the final ranking...not to mention it’s very ambiguous in the rules in the first place.

@maglor Things like fairness, how closely the final ranking reflects the characters' actual performances throughout the year, in the end these are all subjective to certain degrees. If perfect objectiveness/accuracy cannot be achieved, being friendly and easy to understand to most voters is the first thing to consider I'll say, since voters is the primary part for ISML, even if to satisfy the majority of regular people, the more logical minds of the decision makers have to suffer bearable dissatisfaction.

Personally, I have no problem with the final ranking tho.
